The past week was a stressful one. 17 years in this profession, this is the first.

A client cm friend of mine got injured during a sports game. She told me her MRI shows a complete ACL tear on her knee and asked if she could get her surgery done in a private hospital.
I told her of course she could as it was an accident.

Upon reading her MRI report, the orthopaedic assured her that she is going be okay after the surgery. So we proceed to process her insurance GL application.

Two days before her scheduled appointment, we received a news saying her GL application has been denied. We were shocked!! Why??!!

It was quite a major surgery and the cost could easily sum up to RM40,000, or more. How would my client gonna pay for it?

I don't want to get into the details as it's confidential. But what needs to be done, has to be done.

As what Mark Whatney quoted at the end of the movie :

"At some point, everything's gonna go south on you. Everything's going to go south and you're going to say… this is it, this is how I end. Now you can either accept that, or you can get to work. That's all it is. You just begin. You do the math. You solve one problem… and you solve the next one… and then the next. And If you solve enough problems, you get to come home."

Panic is not going to help. I was somehow confident that I could get the insurance company to reconsider their decision. I just need to do the math.

After solving one problem over another, and at 3.44pm today, I received this great news. The GL has been issued!

I do admit during the past week, my faith was a little shaken with those hiccups. But thank The Universe. Thank Gods for lending a hand. Thanks to my client for your patience and trust. Thank you my friends whom had helped, you know who you are. From the bottom of my heart.

疾病保单对很多人来说，是个保障收入的保单。很多时候我们都会觉得：小孩没有收入，不需要购买那么多疾病保障。

会生金蛋的鸡，当然是要保护鸡过于金蛋。我刚刚加入保险行业时，也是这样想。常常自以为是为顾客省钱。

事过境迁，见到真实生活的例子越多，人也变得更成熟、更专业。

今天见到同事分享的一个感人故事。
不知道故事属不属实，总之读到一半已经开始要哭了。😭😭😭

然后看到另一名同事在评论区说如果姐姐把那800多千拿来放在储蓄保险，再为这储蓄保险指定受益人，那么弟弟就不能向姐姐追讨这笔钱了。

读了评论，我的 technical 鬼就上身了。
来，我们一起来做 case study 一下。
歹势，职业病。😁

首先，假设这800多千是通过遗嘱从母亲手中交给姐姐。那么不需要通过 Financial Services Act 2013, (Section 130, Article 5. (1))，弟弟也没权利追讨这笔钱。

爸爸去世后800多千保险金，我猜应该是提名给妈妈为受益人。妈妈才有权利拿到这笔钱，把钱放在银行。如果提名给姐姐当受益人，那么姐姐应该在爸爸过世后就直接拿到这笔钱。这样姐姐才算完全拥有这笔钱的权利。（FSA 2013)

妈妈拿到这笔钱后，这笔钱就属于妈妈的财产了。在妈妈过世以后，这800多千就是妈妈的遗产。

当然这笔钱只是通过一封信，而不是正规遗嘱程序交给姐姐。律师为证人的话，这算不算合法遗嘱，就交给懂法律的专业人士去回答。

我们就假设这不算遗嘱。

不算遗嘱的话，那么姐姐也不能立刻接纳这笔钱。而是必须上法庭申请 Letter of Administration，然后通过大马遗产法令 (Distribution Act 1958) 来分配这笔钱。这样弟弟是和姐姐平分这800多千的。

也就是说姐姐是没有权利自行将这800多千全部拿起放在储蓄保险。

万一弟弟知道了，他有权利向法庭申请追讨这笔钱。如果姐姐不给，当然就要打官司咯。

如果官司打上十几、二十年。打完后法庭宣判弟弟胜诉，那么刚好储蓄保险也满期了，姐姐就可以将弟弟的400千还给他。姐姐自己拿400千加储蓄保险满期后的附加利益，那么姐姐就算幸运有赚了。

但如果官司只打上一、两年法庭就宣判弟弟胜诉，那么姐姐得想办法将400多千交换给弟弟。毕竟大家都知道，短期内将储蓄保险断保，肯定不能完全拿回800多千的保费。

（除非姐姐在保险生效后14天的 Free Look Period 把储蓄保险取消 😂）

当然以上的假设是不会发生的，因为在拿到 Letter of Administation 前，那800多千是会被冻结的。姐姐拿不到这笔钱，又怎样放进储蓄保险咧，对吗？

不是，我不是说储蓄保险不好哦！
储蓄保险不是这样用的。

当然还有个比储蓄保险更好的方案。
