The highlight of the Chapter 2 Annual General Meeting was the election of the new Chapter Executive, mandated to provide strategic oversight and policy direction for all Chapter 2 SACCOs for the 2026 financial year. The Executive will be led by Mr. Alex Mtungama of Limbe leaf SACCO as Chairperson.

During the meeting, SACCOs were urged to innovate and develop member-centered financial products that respond to the changing economic environment while aligning with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles. Msilikali SACCO was recognized as the largest SACCO in the chapter by membership and asset base, while Police SACCO received recognition as the most visible SACCO brand within the chapter while Dwasco SACCO,Plan Malawi SACCO,UNC SACCO,Kasupe SACCO,Umodzi SACCO,Limbe Leaf SACCO where recognized as the performing SACCOs in the year 2025 in different categories.

The cooperative movement continues to grow as a trusted vehicle for financial inclusion and member empowerment. This is an opportune time to join a SACCO and contribute to building resilient, community-focused financial institutions.

Today Msilikali SACCO joined the 2026 MDF Inter-service Sports Festival taking place at Malawi Armed Forces College (MAFCO) in Salima.

General George Alexander Jaffu Jnr attended the event as the Guest of Honour and officially opened the festival. In his opening remarks, he emphasized the importance of sports in promoting unity, discipline, teamwork and healthy competition within the Malawi Defence Force. He described the festival as a platform that brings servicemembers together as one family while strengthening cooperation and esprit de corps.

He further encouraged athletes, coaches, trainers and support staff to continue striving for excellence and reclaim the glory of MDF sports at national level competition.

It has been a vibrant and highly competitive day, with teams showcasing their talents in football, hockey, tug of war and other sporting activities. The energy and team spirit have been incredible, setting the stage for even more exciting action tomorrow.
