FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE!!!! URGENT!! WHEN CONNECTIONS MEET PURPOSE, COMMUNITIES THRIVE!!!!!! I firmly believe in the value of hard work, and I remain committed to working diligently toward my goals. However, experience has taught me that hard work alone is often not sufficient to reach the next level of meaningful impact. Progress is often accelerated by social capital — connections, mentors, sponsors, and individuals willing to open doors to opportunities. With this in mind, I humbly reach out to respected leaders, including CEOs, Directors, Managers, policymakers, colleagues, friends, and well-wishers, who may be willing to support or connect us to opportunities aligned with the work we are doing. I am through Pruben Business Consulting, involved in several initiatives aimed at strengthening businesses and empowering entrepreneurs. Our key services include: • Corporate training programs for institutions and organizations [ 50% of Profit goes to supporting Young Entrepreneurs] • Business registration and compliance support targeting SMEs [ We pay for 10 youth per month] • Preparation of business plans and project proposals • Financial accounting support for SMEs • Entrepreneurship development training for youth Over the past year, we have trained and equipped more than 500 young entrepreneurs with practical business skills and start-up equipment, enabling them to begin or strengthen their income-generating activities. Sponsored by Corporations, International NGOs, & Well-meaning individuals.
WE ARE CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR MORE SPONSORS to support another 500 that are on the WAITING LIST- Let's talk further on: 0999 379 547/0881 267 827 In addition, we are currently supporting the promotion of a promising local manufacturing initiative, Ekalite Bulbs, which produces both electrical and solar bulbs. The business is seeking investment or funding to acquire a bulb-manufacturing machine, which will significantly expand its production capacity, reduce reliance on imported raw materials, and create additional employment opportunities. I therefore respectfully request your direct support, partnership, or referrals to individuals or organizations who may be able to support any of these initiatives. Any connection, introduction, or opportunity you may facilitate would be greatly appreciated and could help expand opportunities for many young entrepreneurs and small businesses. Thank you for your time and consideration. Attached are pictures depicting some of the initiatives i am involved in. Benson Chirwa- 0999 379 547/ 0881 267 827

The 5 Most Important Tax Changes That Businesses in Malawi Should Pay Attention To

1. Increase in Value Added Tax (VAT) to 17.5%

The standard VAT rate has increased from 16.5% to 17.5% effective 1 January 2026.

Why Businesses Should Care:
- Businesses must adjust prices and accounting systems to reflect the new VAT rate.
- The higher VAT rate can reduce customer demand as goods and services become more expensive.
- Businesses registered for VAT must ensure invoices reflect the new 17.5% rate to avoid penalties.

2. Mandatory Electronic Invoicing System (EIS)

The Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) is introducing a mandatory Electronic Invoicing System for VAT-registered businesses, with full implementation expected around May 2026.

Why Businesses Should Care:
- Every VAT invoice must be generated through the EIS platform or approved systems.
- Businesses must register on the EIS portal, train staff, and possibly upgrade POS or accounting systems.
- Invoices not issued through EIS may not qualify for VAT deductions.

3. 0.05% Levy on Bank and Mobile Money Transfers

The government has introduced a 0.05% levy on bank transfers and mobile money transactions exceeding MWK 100,000.

Why Businesses Should Care
- Businesses making frequent payments to suppliers or staff will incur additional transaction costs.
- Digital payment systems will now carry extra tax charges, affecting cash flow management.

4. Introduction of Minimum Alternate Tax (MAT)

A Minimum Alternate Tax of approximately 0.5% has been introduced to ensure companies pay tax even if they report low profits.

Why Businesses Should Care
- Businesses cannot completely avoid corporate tax by declaring low profits.
- Even if profit is small or zero, tax may still be calculated based on turnover.
- SMEs need stronger financial records and tax planning.

5. Changes to PAYE (Payroll Tax) Structure

The new PAYE structure, effective January 2026, is as follows:

Monthly Income
Tax Rate
Up to MWK 170,000-0%
MWK 170,001 – 1.57 million-30%
MWK 1.57 million – 10 million-35%
Above MWK 10 million-40%

Why Businesses Should Care

- Employers must update payroll systems to reflect the new tax brackets.
- Incorrect deductions could lead to penalties from MRA.
- Higher taxes on higher earners may increase salary expectations from staff.

Practical Advice for Businesses in Malawi

To remain compliant and reduce risk:

1. Update accounting systems to reflect the 17.5% VAT rate.
2. Prepare for electronic invoicing (EIS) early.
3. Track bank transfer taxes in financial planning.
4. Maintain accurate records to avoid issues with MAT.
5. Ensure payroll systems reflect the new PAYE tax brackets.

FIVE STRATEGIC MOVES FOR 25 -35 YEAR OLDs

Published By Benedicto Bena Nkhoma- Inspirational and Motivational

If I Was 25 to 35 Years Old in Malawi Today

Good morning Malawi 🇲🇼 and Africa!

Let me speak directly to those of you who are between 25 and 35 years old.

If I was in that age bracket today in Malawi, knowing what I know now about money, business and life, I would focus on five things very aggressively.

Not ten.

Not twenty.

Just five strategic moves.

Because the decisions you make between 25 and 35 will largely determine whether you struggle financially at 50 or live with freedom.

1. I Would Control Lifestyle Ruthlessly

The biggest danger in your late 20s and early 30s is lifestyle expansion.

New phone.
Better apartment.
Car loan.
Weekend lifestyle.

But here is the reality.

Many people between 25 and 35 are earning their highest income relative to responsibility.

Children are still few.
Major family responsibilities are still manageable.

That is the golden investment window.

If you waste this decade on lifestyle, you lose a powerful opportunity.

2. I Would Build My First Assets

Between 25 and 35 I would focus on building at least three income-producing assets.

For example:

• Shares on the Malawi Stock Exchange
• A small business or side hustle-( Pruben Business Consulting can help you register the business, marketing & accounting for your business & business management training)
• Agriculture or poultry
• Land in growth areas
• Rental property partnerships

Not everything will succeed immediately.

But the goal is to start building ownership early.

Because ownership is what creates wealth.

At 33 I already had 3 houses and a plot and started investing on the Malawi Stock Exchange by leveraging.

I had a logistics business which caused more headaches than returns and was selling motor vehicles from Durban with a group of friends.

3. I Would Master One Valuable Skill

The market rewards people who are excellent at something valuable.

Between 25 and 35 I would invest heavily in building expertise.

Skills like:

• finance
• technology
• consulting
• business strategy
• digital services
• engineering
• agriculture innovation

Your skills determine your income ceiling.

And higher income allows you to build assets faster.

At that age I was already a Head of Department able to set up other departments due to the ability to learn, unlearn and relearn. Would never give up on assignments and projects.

4. I Would Build Strategic Networks

Your network determines your exposure.

And exposure changes your ambition.

If you spend time with people who:

• discuss investments
• build companies
• solve big problems

your thinking expands.

But if you spend time only discussing:

• gossip
• lifestyle
• survival

your growth slows down.

Environment matters.

5. I Would Think Long-Term

Many young people want success immediately.

But real wealth is built over 20 to 30 years.

The money you invest at 25 can transform your life at 50.

But the same money spent on lifestyle disappears instantly.

That is why this decade is so powerful.

Between 25 and 35 you are planting seeds.

Between 35 and 50 those seeds begin to grow.

Final Message

If you are between 25 and 35 today in Malawi, you are not late.

In fact, you are perfectly positioned.

But you must avoid three traps:

• lifestyle inflation
• financial illiteracy
• waiting too long to invest

Because the graduates and young professionals who win financially are not necessarily the smartest.

They are simply the ones who start building assets early and consistently.

You don't need a corner office to start.
You don't need a full team on day one.
You don't need millions in the bank.

What people think they need: → A fancy office in the CBD
→ 50+ employees
→ Huge startup capital
→ Years of experience
→ Everything figured out
What you actually need: → A product or service people want
→ The courage to start
→ A business certificate (so you can grow legally)

The biggest companies in the world started in garages, dorm rooms, and kitchen tables.
Your business doesn't need to look perfect. It just needs to start.
We'll handle the registration. You handle the dream.
