Personalized license plates: The annual fee will apply only to new applications.

The introduction of an annual fee for personalized vehicle registration plates will apply only to newly issued personalized plates.
This clarification was provided by the Minister of Transport, Osman Mahomed, in the National Assembly on Tuesday.
He stated that motorists who already possess personalized registration plates will not be affected by this new measure.
As a reminder, the announcement of this annual fee in the 2026–2027 Budget generated considerable criticism.

Current situation at Registrar General Dept and NLTA

The new Registration Book paper type available since several weeks from the NLTA office. We have received concerns from several persons if the Registration Book is valid as Original and Valid as it says COPY at the bottom. We wish to assure everyone that its the Only Paper available in all NLTA office and all Registration Books from all Offices are being issued with the same paper and they are completly VALID and ORIGINAL. Any doubts can be directly verified through the NLTA hotline number on their website.
