On 30 September 2026, the Financial Services Commission launched Mauritiusโ€™s Register of Trusts, strengthening the reporting framework for basic trust and beneficial-ownership information.

What should advisers and their clients know?

โ€ข Relevant licensed trustees and management companies must record the trusts under their administration by 15 January 2027.
โ€ข Information submitted must be accurate, complete and consistent.
โ€ข Qualified trustees must update beneficial-ownership changes promptly, within the prescribed five-working-day timeframe.

The register is intended to give competent authorities timely access to current information. The FSC communiquรฉ does not describe it as publicly searchable.

For IFAs and clients with Mauritius trust arrangements, this is a useful prompt to check with the trustee that records are current and relevant changes have been communicated.

Good cross-border planning depends on keeping the records behind the structure up to date.
