The draft revision of the world's leading occupational health and safety management system standard ISO 45001 has been released for review.

Proposed changes include a stronger emphasis on work-related well-being, diversity considerations, occupational health processes, return-to-work processes, and evolving workplace risks linked to new technologies and ways of working.

While the changes to ISO 45001 are considered moderate, these are more extensive than those recently released for ISO 14001 and ISO 9001.

One DNV. One shared commitment to Namibia.

DNV Business Assurance and DNV Maritime recently co-hosted the first-ever Customer Seminar and Networking Event in Namibia, bringing both worlds of DNV expertise under one roof for the very first time in the country.

Across two iconic venues in Walvis Bay and Windhoek, and in partnership with Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB), we brought together entrepreneurs, investors, maritime professionals, and business leaders for a day of knowledge exchange and meaningful connection.
Two divisions. One mission: helping Namibian businesses and industries grow, compete, and connect to the world.

From DNV Business Assurance, we covered how international standards (e.g. ISO 9001 for quality management, ISO 14001 for environmental performance, ISO 45001 for health and safety, ISO 27001 for cyber security, among others) are opening real doors for companies across Sub-Saharan Africa: credibility in global tenders, access to international supply chains, and the confidence of foreign investors. Not a bureaucratic exercise, but a genuine growth engine.

From DNV Maritime, we tackled how world-class classification, technical advisory, and maritime safety expertise are supporting Namibia's rapidly evolving role as a strategic hub, as the Port of Walvis Bay grows in regional significance and the offshore energy sector attracts global attention.

The highlight? A structured networking lunch with dedicated tables for Certification, Training, and Maritime, where focused conversations turned interest into intent.

This event marks the beginning of a deepened, long-term DNV commitment to Namibia. And we couldn't have done it without the outstanding partnership of Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB), whose network and mission aligned so naturally with ours.

FSSC 22000 Version 7 has officially been released.

Published on 1 May 2026, the latest version introduces a number of improvements, while remaining largely aligned with what was previously communicated, with no major changes.

Version 7 will become applicable from 1 May 2027, with a 12‑month transition period. While this may feel some way off, early preparation is essential to ensure a smooth and efficient transition.

The revision of the ISO 9001 quality management system standard is now entering its final stage.

The Final Draft International Standard (FDIS) has been released, marking a significant milestone ahead of the official publication expected later in 2026.

While the updates are considered moderate, they reflect key priorities in today’s business landscape:
🔹 A stronger emphasis on leadership, including fostering a quality-driven culture and ethical behaviour
🔹 A clearer distinction between risk and opportunity management
🔹 Integration of the 2024 climate change amendments
🔹 Targeted clarifications across selected clauses

For organisations already certified, the transition is not expected to be disruptive. However, early preparation will be essential to ensure a smooth and efficient transition.

At DNV, we’re here to support you with insights, training, and transition audits - helping you stay ahead.

Africa’s first FSC-certified timber stadium has officially opened in Lesotho, and DNV Business Assurance is proud to have provided the independent FSC project certification.

The FSC Stadium of Life, located at the Kick4Life Centre in Maseru, was constructed using 8,584 responsibly sourced and fully traceable eucalyptus poles supplied from FSC-certified plantations in South Africa.
Certified against FSC project certification requirements, the project demonstrates how sustainable construction can reduce reliance on more carbon-intensive materials while creating long-term value for local communities.

Beyond the stadium itself, the initiative supports biodiversity awareness, youth skills development, education, and community engagement through the wider Kick4Life Centre.

For DNV, this certification project reflects the role of independent certification in helping organizations build trust, transparency, and confidence across sustainable supply chains.
“We’re proud to have supported the FSC Stadium of Life through our independent certification, helping to give confidence that the timber used is responsibly sourced and traceable.”
Greg Markwell, Sales Manager, DNV Business Assurance Africa.
