تعود جذور مجموعة السهل القابضة الى سنة 1959عندما أسسها الحاج المهدي قداد رحمه الله كمشاريع زراعية عائلية في منطقة الجليدة , جنوب الزهراء في ضواحي طرابلس , مختصة في انتاج الحبوب ( قمح و شعير ) و الزيتون و زيت الزيتون حيث كان قطاعا ناشئا حديثا و مهم للغاية عندما كانت ليبيا بعد الحرب العالمية الثانية في خضم نهضة و إعادة اعمار و خلال منتصف الستينات و السبعينات تم بعث عدة مشاريع صغرى في المجال العقاري و صناعة مواد البناء مثل الطوب و انشاء اول مطحنة لتصنيع الاعلاف , مخبزة , مصنع بلاستيك الميلامين و مصنع تعبئة المياه تحت علامة الواحة في فترة التسعينات.
مثلت الفترة بين سنة 2002 و 2004 الانطلاقة الفعلية لمجموعة السهل القابضة بقيادة مجلس الادارة الحالي حيث شهدت إعادة هيكلة المجموعة و الاستثمار في المشاريع الكبرى و في قطاعات استثمارية جديدة و مرحلة التوسع شرقا و غربا حيث أصبحت المجموعة من اهم المستثمرين و الفاعلين في توطين الصناعة الليبية و تنشط حاليا عبر 6 قطاعات أعمال أساسية: القطاع الصناعي ، القطاع الزراعي، قطاع الرعاية الصحية، قطاع التجارة و التوزيع، قطاع الاستثمار العقاري و الإنشاءات و قطاع الخدمات و الطاقة والتكنولوجيا ) و تضمّ العديد من المصانع و الشركات الرائدة في المجال . Founded in 1959 by Hajj Al Mahdi Qaddad ( May he rest in peace) as a family farming enterprise in the Al Jalida area south of Al Zahra, on the outskirts of Tripoli, Al Sahl Group Holding started as a pioneer in agriculture, specializing in the cultivation of cereals (wheat and barley), olives, and olive oil. These sectors were crucial during Libya’s post-World War II renaissance and reconstruction. By the mid-1960s and 1970s, the Group diversified into real estate and building materials, establishing Libya’s first feed mill, bakery, melamine plastic factory, and a water bottling plant under the Al Waha brand in the 1990s. Between 2002 and 2004, under the visionary leadership of the current Board of Directors, Al Sahl Group Holding underwent significant restructuring, marking a new phase of expansion and investment in major projects and new sectors.
