SVB unrealised loss on securities was wide enough to wipe out its entire shareholders' equity. Period.

Equity, Fixed Income and balanced funds, as well as PERE funds are all in the red in 2022.
There is no place to hide, no alternative asset per se to hedge downside risk.
Not to mention Gold and Cryptos which are down respectively -10% and -65% from their peaks.

On the other hand, there are alternative strategies, with sound risk-controlled parameters that deliver during downturns. Because they are decorrelated from the traditional assets and standard buy-and-hold strategies, they can perform while others are going down.

People views are now changing quite fast towards real alternatives because investors are finally losing with long only buy-and- hold: up until 4 months ago everyone was the smartest investor and needed no one and no downside protection strategies. This time is over.

Ps: I shall that ESG label is only corporate social credit scoring to attract more investors (asset gathering, not asset management)
