ZWEDRU-GRAND GEDEH COUNTY –
Tchien District Commissioner says the District is on the right trajectory of developments as effort continues in two clans in obtaining a community’s forest status that could lead to attracting investors.
Commissioner S.K Soubu Wulu told Smile Radio Monday February 18, 2019 that Kannah and Tchien Menzon clans are engaging authority of the forestry Development Authority in obtaining a Community Forest status that could pathway for investments in the District.
He added that when the nine steps involve in obtaining Community forest status are completed by the two clans, such opportunity will further provide prominent and temporarily employment for citizens especially youths in the District.
The tough talking Tchien District Commissioner lauded members of the two clans for the step taken and wants them be cognizant of laws guiding the establishment of community forest and regulations involves in bringing investors.
Soubu Wulu maintained that when the two clans are successful in obtaining a Community forest status the involvement of all affected communities should be the hallmark and warns against interference of politicians that could undermine that greater interest of the commoners.
Speaking further commissioner Wulu praise health workers in the District for their selfless services toward saving lives and ensuring that the District is stable and healthy
At the same time he indicated that the lack of Nurses quarter is hampering the work of health workers in Toffoie Town.
Commissioner Wulu stressed health workers in Toffoi Town on a daily basic leaves their assigned area to return to Zwedru due to lack of hosting facility; this he said is not offering well for citizens in the area.
The Ministry of Education has with immediate effect ordered the closure of the Clara Marie Weah Elementary, Junior and Senior High School in Zwedru.
According to a communication from the office of Grand Gedeh County Education Officer states; the decision to order the self-styled and self-proclaimed Clara Marie Weah Elementary, junior and Senior High School closed is based on the proprietor, Mr. Joseph Taryon’s failure to regularize the status of the school.
The communication further states, Mr. Taryon’s action to established a school outside the Ministry of Education’s guidelines and standards is not only a violation but also a mockery to the Grand Gedeh County School System, adding the facilities housing institution is not capable of hosting an Elementary junior and Senior High Schools
The Ministry of Education through the Grand Gedeh County School System is however warning parents and guardians sending their children or wards to the school are advised not to register them in the school for 2nd semester of 2018/2019 school year
All effort to speak to the proprietor of the Clara Marie Weah Elementary, junior and Senior High School Joseph Taryon did not materialize up to press time.
Parents and guardians were not reachable since the news broke out over the weekend for comments.
