11 Agribusinesses Awarded Grants to Boost Agribusiness Innovation in Liberia
Ganta City, Nimba County, Liberia – On November 25, 2024, a momentous occasion unfolded at the Jackie Hotel as 11 dynamic Agribusiness were awarded grants totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars to enhance their agribusiness ventures. The event, funded by USAID through its Africa Trade and Investment (ATI) initiatives and implemented by EDUCARE Liberia in collaboration with its South African partner, marked a significant milestone in Liberia’s journey toward agricultural development and economic empowerment.
Grant Categories and Recipients
The grant program was divided into three categories, reflecting the diverse scale and potential of the winning businesses:
1. US$50,000 Awards: The outstanding entrepreneurs emerged victorious in this category, demonstrating innovative strategies and scalable business models poised to transform Liberia’s agribusiness landscape.
2. US$25,000 Awards: Another three promising entrepreneurs received this mid-level grant, earmarked to strengthen their operational capacity and expand market reach.
3. US$10,000 Awards: Five aspiring agribusinesses were recognized with this grant, enabling them to take crucial steps toward growth and sustainability.
The ceremony attracted a host of dignitaries from USAID, ATI, and prominent agribusiness stakeholders in Liberia. High-level officials emphasized the importance of fostering local entrepreneurship as a cornerstone for economic resilience and food security.
