NICOL Strengthens International Partnerships at 52nd African Insurance Organization Conference in Egypt
Cairo, Egypt – June 10, 2026 – The National Insurance Corporation of Liberia (NICOL), represented by its Acting Managing Director Abdullah S. Swaray has successfully concluded participation in the 52nd Annual Conference and General Assembly of the African Insurance Organization (AIO), held in Cairo, Egypt, from June 5–10, 2026.
The prestigious continental gathering attracted more than 2,000 delegates from across Africa and beyond, including representatives of insurance companies, reinsurance firms, investors, regulators, and other key stakeholders in the insurance industry.
Hosted by the Insurance Federation of Egypt under the theme, “Insurance as an Enabler of Economic Growth for All,” the conference focused on advancing insurance inclusion, empowering underserved communities, strengthening economic resilience, and increasing insurance pe*******on across Africa.
As Liberia’s premier state-owned insurance institution, NICOL’s participation underscored the Government of Liberia’s commitment to strengthening the insurance sector and promoting financial inclusion. The conference provided an important platform for NICOL to engage with industry leaders, exchange knowledge, explore emerging trends, and establish strategic partnerships aimed at enhancing the Corporation’s operational capacity and service delivery.
A major outcome of NICOL’s participation was the successful conclusion of discussions and agreements with several international reinsurance partners. These partnerships are expected to provide enhanced technical support and capacity-building opportunities, particularly in underwriting, risk assessment, and professional staff development.
The agreements will facilitate specialized training programs designed to strengthen the underwriting expertise and technical competencies of NICOL employees, enabling the Corporation to better serve its clients while maintaining international best practices in insurance operations.
Additionally, NICOL secured commitments from partners to collaborate on the development of innovative microinsurance products tailored to the needs of low-income and underserved populations in Liberia. This initiative aligns with national efforts to expand financial protection, improve access to insurance services, and increase insurance pe*******on nationwide.
