SLIIN together with the Participatory Development Foundation (PDF Sri Lanka), commemorated International Women’s Day on 8th March 2026 in Anamaduwa with the participation of women micro-entrepreneurs of the Diriliya Project.
The event was organized under the theme “Women are the Nation’s Pride and the Path to Future Prosperity.” Around 50 women entrepreneurs attended the program, which focused on empowering women through awareness and knowledge-sharing sessions.
The sessions addressed several important topics including:
• Prevention of domestic violence and strengthening female leadership
• Psychosocial approaches for healing and mental wellbeing of women
• Financial literacy for improved family wellbeing and economic stability
The distinguished resource panel for the event included:
Ms. Subashi Herath, Chief Inspector of Police, Chilaw Division
Ms. Vimukthika Deshani, Psychosocial Consultant
Mr. Navindra Liyanaarachchi, Development Consultant and Managing Director/CEO of SLIIN
A significant outcome of the program was the initiative taken by the participating women to establish a “Women in Need Society” at the village level. This community group aims to raise awareness on women’s issues and strengthen local support systems, with continued guidance and support from the Participatory Development Foundation (PDF).
During the proceedings, Ms. Chathuri, Media and Communication Coordinator of PDF, delivered an insightful presentation highlighting the historical evolution of women’s rights and the global significance of International Women’s Day. The event was also addressed by Ms. Anita Taming, Founder of The Innerwork Lab, the organization that financially supported the program, who joined the gathering through video technology
The event concluded with a renewed commitment from participants to work collectively towards women’s empowerment, community leadership, and inclusive rural development.

Empowering Women Across Cultures

On 3rd February 2026, SLIINSLIIN, in collaboration with the Participatory Development Foundation (PDF Sri Lanka), hosted Innerwork Lab Female Leadership Program in Anamaduwa, Sri Lanka. Six inspiring female leaders from The Innerwork Lab, led by Ms. Tamming, participated in a field visit under the Diriliya Project, implemented by SLIIN with the support from for Mothers (MfM) and Wilde Ganzen, Netherlands.

During the visit, the leaders engaged with women micro-entrepreneurs supported through SLIINs microcredit program, fostering a powerful environment for knowledge exchange, shared experiences, and cross-cultural learning on women’s empowerment.

The Innerwork Lab generously contributed EUR 3,500 to enhance the wellbeing, skills, and business growth of these women entrepreneurs. The program also featured a cultural immersion with local cuisine, providing a deeper understanding of rural Sri Lankan life.

The initiative was warmly received and served as an inspiration for all involved. SLIINSLIIN looks forward to continuing such partnerships to uplift women and communities in the future.

SLIIN looking for its first microenterpise development project

SMEs are growth engine of the economy. More than 70 % of employees in Sri Lanka engaged in informal sector. There are thousands of cottage businesses provide life line to peoples around it. In fact, there are innovators who do not have adequate capital to initiate their ideas into practice. Therefore, SLIIN is focusing on supporting micro-entrepreneurs in Sri Lanka who already established a business having future prospect and would eager to expand it into next level. Further, SLIIN will give special attention to women micro-entrepreneurs. Our focus is predominately for economic development in marginalized localities. With the experience of founder Navindra Liyanaarachchi in development sector, SLIIN looking to raise low cost funding pool for finance emerging micro entrepreneurs in marginalized segments.

SLIIN will not work independently in selected areas. We will seek the co-operation of Community Based Organizations (CBOs) and Self Helped Groups (SHGs) already established in the area to reach out to target segments. SLIIN believes people’s organization’s formed by themselves for address their own needs will provide great platform for reach out to desired individuals. We will give priority to Co-operatives and Mutuals but not restricted to it. SLIIN is respecting internationally accepted cooperative principles and values. We believe co-operatives are self-governed as well as regulated by direct law. This will support SLIIN to work transparently under regulated environment.

Therefore, we would be happy to invite Impact Investors and funding agencies to networking with us to engaged in this worthy cause with great social returns.

Thank you.
