Many major versatile companies have large branch offices in Kurunegala and many Industries including textiles, furniture, information technology, and jewelry are found there. In November 2019 our next branch was opened in Kaluthara. Once an important spice-trading center, the town's name is derived from the Kalu Ganga River (Black River in native Sinhala). In the 11th Century, the town was temporarily made capital by the orders of a South Indian Prince. The region was later planted with coconut trees, whose by-products are used for both internal and external trade. The Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) industry are growing at an alarming pace in the local and international markets. With many governments driving this as a way forward in building the local economies along with empowering the people. This empowerment for low-income households in the developing world has the power to propel the economic and social development of the country as well as alleviate the ill effects of poverty.
