mployment to more than 3000 people and positively impact over 6 Million bank account holders through our 272 service points on the Island wide. We have been created with a view of serving primarily the rural areas of the country with basic banking and financial services. However, now we have branches set up for urban operations providing unparalleled banking services to each and everyone in Sri Lanka. We are keen on empowering our customers in the micro, small, and medium scale industries, agriculture, trade, livestock, commerce, fisheries industry, and other productive activities in rural areas. As well as we inculcate the savings habit amongst the rural people by providing higher returns on savings and fixed deposits, and encouraging school children and minors to save. As a responsible bank in the country, we have understood that women entrepreneurs play a significant role in poverty reduction, human development, education, health, and the nation's development, especially in rural areas. Therefore RDB has taken steps to support women entrepreneurs by introducing flexible loan schemes and creating market opportunities. For over a decade we have been supporting millions of families in the country by providing the financial support they need.
