The Range Rover Sport has a leaner, more aerodynamic appearance than the opulent Range Rover. It features fully automatic, geometric-shaped headlights, a rugged underbody, and Land Rover’s signature mesh pattern along the front grille and front quarter-panel vents. The rooftop slopes back at steeper angle, and it is supported by blacked-out A, B, C, and D pillars. The SVR trim comes with even more aggressive body styling. Standard features include power/heated side mirrors, a power liftgate, skid plates, and a dual-pipe exhaust system. Fog lights, automatic dimming side mirrors, power retractable side rails, a panoramic moonroof, and a trailer hitch receiver are also available.
Under the hood, the Range Rover Sport is powered by a standard 340-hp, supercharged 3.0-liter engine that produces 332 pounds-feet of torque. The HSE Dynamic has the same powertrain, but is tuned to produce 380-hp. A 254-hp, turbo-diesel 3.0-liter V-6 is also available for the SE and HSE trims. The Supercharged, Supercharged Dynamic, and Autobiography trims come with a 510-hp, supercharged 5.0-liter V-8. The SVR trim utilizes the same engine, and it is tuned to make 550-hp. All engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive (4WD).
Fuel efficiency for the Supercharged V-6 models is an EPA-estimated 17/23 mpg city/highway. With the turbo-diesel V-6, the rating improves to 22/29 mpg. It drops to a 14/19 mpg rating for trims with the supercharged 5.0-liter V-8.
Inside, the Range Rover Sport has an upscale, yet minimalistic interior. It has seating for five passengers, but an additional third row bench seat is available for total of seven. The standard multimedia system features an 8-inch touchscreen, an integrated navigation system, Bluetooth connectivity for phone and audio, and 8 audio speakers. Using the standard InControl Remote Control smartphone app, the driver can lock/unlock doors, preheat/precool the interior, start the engine, and locate their vehicle in a parking lot. Full leather upholstery, an automatic tilt-away steering wheel and a memory seat also come standard. Optional features include genuine wood trim, heated/ventilated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, rear HVAC, soft door close, a center console cooler compartment, and a Meridian premium audio system.
Optional safety features include forward collision warning, lane departure warning, blind spot warning, adaptive cruise control, and autonomous braking.
