26th July 2024 was a special day for Atarah Capital, marking the successful completion of our 5th listing in the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE).
Completion of a listing in the CSE generally involves a colorful ceremony called the “Bellringing” ceremony, attended by key stakeholders involved in the IPO/ listing, few speeches delivered by eminent personnel/officials, followed by a star class breakfast at the CSE.
Lots of pictures are usually clicked, every such picture being very formal, officials standing straight and posing, with not so many smiles.
Noticing this phenomenon on several occasions, I choose to be somewhat different and deviate from the usual formal setup. The victim I dragged into this situation was none other than Vithy Gugnathan, Managing Director of Maharaja Foods PLC.
To give you a perspective of the difference we made, the 1st picture is where I decided to smack Vithy’s head instead of the bell, the 2nd picture is one of those formal clicks.
Life if too short to behave seriously all the time, isn’t it?
