Abans Finance PLC proudly announces the appointment of Mr. Upul Gunasekara as Chief Executive Officer.
Mr. Gunasekara holds an MBA from the University of Wolverhampton and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, specializing in Real Estate.
With over 20 years of experience in Sri Lanka’s financial services sector, Mr. Gunasekara has built a distinguished career spanning credit management, recoveries, operations, and strategic leadership. He served as Assistant General Manager at Lanka Orix Leasing Company (LOLC) from 2007 to 2019, before joining Abans Finance PLC in September 2019 as Head of Recoveries.
In 2023, he was appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Abans Finance PLC, assuming broader responsibilities in strategic leadership, operational excellence, risk management, and business growth. During his tenure, he has played a significant role in supporting the Company’s operational development and strategic objectives.
With his extensive industry expertise, proven leadership track record, and deep understanding of the financial services landscape, Mr. Gunasekara is well positioned to lead Abans Finance PLC into its next phase of sustainable growth, innovation, and transformation.
