Banque BEMO and its partners in the national writing competition — Dreaming Lebanon: Let the Walls Speak — extend their deepest gratitude to the distinguished jury members of the fourth edition.

Across the Arabic, French, and English juries, the remarkable members gave something rare and irreplaceable: their time, their expertise, and their genuine attention to over 600 submissions from students across Lebanon.

Their role went far beyond evaluation. It was an act of listening — carefully, respectfully, and with full recognition that behind every submission stood a young writer finding their voice, reaching for words, and dreaming Lebanon.

In doing so, they became more than judges. They became guardians of something meaningful: the belief that young people deserve to be heard, and that their stories matter.

The members of the juries were as follows:

Arabic Jury
Former Bar President Me. Amal Haddad,
Journalist Rosette Fadel, Ms. Dima Rifai,
Professor Ghada Al Zaatari.

French Jury
President of “Rêver le Liban” initiative Ms. Nevine Toutounji Hage Chahine, founder of Assabil Association Mr. Antoine Boulad, Author Zeina Saleh Kayali and Professor Arwa Sleiman.

English Jury
Journalist Maya Ghandour, Ms. Ghina Achkar and Professor Ghada Itani.

To each of them — thank you. Your dedication is woven into every story this competition will carry forward.

Banque BEMO took part in the “Semaine jésuite” (Jesuit Week) 2026 organized by Saint Joseph University of Beirut (USJ), reaffirming a longstanding relationship with the University’s cultural and academic initiatives.

Held under the theme “Tout homme et tout l’homme” (Every man and the whole person), the event reflects the Jesuit tradition of viewing the human being as an integrated whole—mind, spirit, meaning, freedom, and responsibility—and invites reflection on human dignity, intellectual growth, and service to society.

The event was marked by remarks from Rev. Fr. Jad Chebli, S.J., Chaplain of USJ, and Rev. Fr. François Boedec, S.J., Rector of the University, as well as a tribute to Rev. Fr. Salim Daccache, S.J., Rector of USJ from 2012 to 2025, honoring a journey that has marked decades of intellectual, educational, and humanistic contribution.

More than a rector, Father Daccache came to be widely regarded as a true builder of the institution. Throughout successive national crises, he helped guide USJ with steadiness and vision—preserving its foundations while strengthening its academic and cultural mission. The tribute thus reflected not only a personal journey, but a defining chapter in the University’s history, marked by growth and intellectual leadership against the odds.

Representing the Bank were Dr. Riad Obegi, Chairman and General Manager, and his advisor Mrs. Joumana Hobeika.
