2025년 1월 20일 미국 트럼프 2기 행정부가 출범할 예정이다. 이에 대비하여 영국 노동당 소속의 레이첼 리브스 장관은 불필요한 무역장벽을 없애고 자유무역을 보호하자는 취지에서 2016년 브렉시트 이후 EU에 처음으로 손을 내밀었다.[1]

Current Trends and Future Forecast on EUR-USD Exchange Rates and Forex Markets

The Foreign Exchange (Forex) market, the largest financial market in the world, plays a critical role in enabling currency conversions for international trade and investment. Among the most closely watched currency pairs is the EUR-USD, which has traditionally hovered around 1 euro = 1.13 USD. However, this exchange rate is anything but static, often shifting in response to a complex mix of economic and geopolitical forces.

Take February 2022, for instance. The onset of the Russia-Ukraine war sent shockwaves through global markets, leading to an instant depreciation of the euro and a simultaneous appreciation of the U.S. dollar. Potential Shift in EU-US Trade Poised by Trump’s Win

On November 9, Republican Donald Trump was elected as the 47th President of the United States. He ran on a campaign of ‘MAGA’ (Make America Great Again), which appealed to both conservative and centrist vote. Trump's campaign promises included withdrawing from the Paris Agreement, dismissing the climate change as a “hoax”, and continuing to rely on traditional fossil fuels. Since Europe's CBAM is set to take effect in 2026, the two Western powers, the US and the EU are poised to adopt diametrically opposing market policies. 지난 달 녹색전환연구소에서 발간한 ‘파리와 암스테르담 사례를 통한 서울시 자전거 정책의 시사점’ 보고서에 따르면 코로나19 이후 파리와 암스테르담은 각각 15분 도시, 도넛 모델이라는 새로운 비전을 채택하고 도시 공간의 재조정을 통해서 도시 교통에 대한 새 비전을 제시하고 있다고 한다.

지난 4일, 유럽연합(EU)이 27개 회원국 투표를 통해 이달 말부터 중국산 전기차에 대해 기존관세율에 상계관세를 더한 수치인 최고 45.3%의 관세를 부과하는 내용의 확정관세안을 통과시켰다.[1] 이에 대해 중국이 EU와 8차례 협상을 시도했으나, 아직 합의에 도달하지 못했다.[2]
