To assess a battery’s true state of health, measurements must be taken only after a 24-hour stabilization period or via a standard 1-minute discharge test. Evaluating regeneration success solely on immediate voltage checks after regeneration is finished is fundamentally flawed and must be strictly avoided.

Safety and Replacement Protocols:
Lithium-Ion Batteries: Due to the inherent chemical nature of lithium cells, replacement is typically mandated when SoH drops to 80% or after 10 years of service. Failure to replace them promptly introduces an escalating and unpredictable risk of thermal runaway and fire.

Lead-Acid Batteries: These can generally be operated for a useful lifespan of up to 3 to 5 years. While capacity degradation is an issue, the risk of catastrophic failure, such as fire, is substantially lower and considered negligible.
