Subject: Urgent Protest Against Thailand’s Ongoing Encroachment on Cambodian Territory
Your Excellencies,
Today, in broad daylight, Thai soldiers have once again encroached upon Cambodian territory at Chok Chey village, Banteay Meanchey Province. They have placed barricades and attempted to impose control over land that belongs indisputably to Cambodia.
At this very moment, Cambodian citizens are rising up in protest at the border, bravely standing against Thai aggression to defend their ancestral land. In a heartbreaking scene, even Cambodian children—armed with nothing but sticks—are standing shoulder to shoulder with their parents to protect their homeland. It is a tragedy for the world to witness that innocent children must face foreign soldiers, not with weapons of war, but with the purity of their courage and love for their motherland. Their small voices and fragile hands carry the same determination as their elders, echoing the pain and unyielding spirit of an entire nation that refuses to surrender.
This act is not an isolated incident. It represents a deliberate and dangerous violation of:
Cambodia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity;
International law, including the Charter of the United Nations;
The Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC);
ASEAN’s fundamental principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and non-interference.
Such unlawful behavior by Thai soldiers gravely threatens not only bilateral peace, but also the unity, credibility, and stability of the ASEAN region. It is intolerable for any member state to trample upon another’s sovereignty with military force.
We therefore urgently demand:
The immediate withdrawal of all Thai soldiers and barricades from Cambodian land.
An official explanation and assurance from the Royal Thai Government that such violations will cease permanently.
ASEAN to uphold its responsibility by addressing Thailand’s aggression through emergency consultation and binding measures.
The United Nations and the International Community to intervene, condemn this blatant aggression, and safeguard the rights of Cambodian citizens at the border.
Cambodia is a nation of peace, but we are not a nation to be humiliated. We will defend our sovereignty with unshakable resolve, through diplomacy, through unity, and, if necessary, through every lawful means available.
We call on the world to hear the cries of the Cambodian people today—defending their homes, their families, and their dignity from unjust aggression. Let no child ever again be forced to lift a stick against a soldier. If this image does not stir the conscience of ASEAN, the United Nations, and humanity itself, then what tragedy will?
