Sovann Phoum is Local NGO has been working on Community Development to focus on Education, Water Sanitation in Communities and Schools and Livelihood Improvement. Originally, a French NGO, Enfants et Développement (E&D), was implementing an integrated program in two sub-urban communes of Stoeung Mean Chey and Dangkor, Phnom Penh, in 1991. In the view of achievements and experience gained from the

implementation of the program activities, Cambodian staff–– who was implementing the program––established a Cambodian NGO, Sovann Phoum, with the support of E&D, in order to continue program activities in existing areas, and to increase similar activities and services to other areas of Cambodia. Sovann Phoum is a non-government, non-religious, and non-profit Organization, working for the best interests of the child, using child-centered community development approach, and is one of the leading NGOs specialized in child-to-child approach for health education and working for benefiting to vulnerable and disadvantaged groups: children and women, through the implementation of socio-economic programs. Having established with strong social mission, commitment and practical experiences, in three fields of Education, Vocational Training and Micro-finance with disadvantaged and poor people, SP has made considerable contributions to the extreme poverty alleviation of Cambodians, both in urban and rural areas of Cambodia.

The participation of parents and guardians is a crucial part to monitoring their children's studies, focusing on some of the points that classroom teachers find, as well as providing advice and finding solutions to help them improve both mentally, physically and emotionally in their focus on learning. Promote active participation from the community and parents to understand the value of education, especially for children who are slow learners, so that parents and guardians can participate in motivating their children in their daily studies.
With the support of World Vision International Cambodia, Sovann Phoum, in collaboration with District Education, Youth and Sports Offices of Phnom Srok and Preah Net Preah, organized 28 meetings.

With the support of World Vision International Cambodia, Sovann Phoum, in collaboration with District Education, Youth and Sports Offices of Phnom Srok and Preah Net Preah, organized a reflection meeting to learn about activities to help students who are slow learners in 46 target schools with school directors and core teachers who help slow learners in order to integrate intervention activities into the teaching activities of teachers in all subjects through activities to help students during break hour, peer support (students help each other learn), learning clubs, correspondence with guardians, and additional homework. As a result of the reflection and learning meeting, the schools established a district-level telegram group to communicate with each other in planning activities to help students who are slow learners, such as a meeting to disseminate information about activities to help slow learners for the teachers from grades 1 to 6 in each target school, setting a time to select students who are slow learners by grade level (teacher in charge), collect data on students who are slow learners into the provided form, and prepare an action plan to determine intervention activities to help students who are slow learners.

A farmer, Kim Hort and her husband have expanded their cultivation from a small-scale to a large-scale cultivation of over 1 hectare to meet market demand, with vegetable crops such as Hawaiian tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, peppers, bell peppers, and corn, and are producing seedlings for sale to farmers in the region and outside the provinces.

Through the experience and support of the World Vision Cambodia in implementing a project called Enhancing Food Security, Nutrition, and Livelihoods for Vulnerable Households to Build Climate Resilience and Improve Child Education, implemented by the Sovann Phoum in Chob Vari commune, Preah Net Preah district, Banteay Meanchey province, this farming family has been given the opportunity to generate income through the daily business of growing crops for the family.

A farmer, Nov Nat lives in Chubbvari commune, Preah Net Preah district, Banteay Meanchey province, continues to grow vegetables in the greenhouse and outside spaces to meet the market demand, even though the project called Improving the Food and Nutrition Security and Resilience of Vulnerable Farming Households (IFNSR) funded by BMZ who used to support was ended in May 2025.
In addition to growing vegetables at home, this farmer was also supported by the project to make the collection point to buy vegetables from the community to sell in the markets.

Through a visit from the leaders of the World Vision International Cambodia, “Now, I am a model farmer who has provided vegetable growing techniques to 20 other farmers’ families and collect from them every day. On average, we collect vegetables from the community to sell at the market from 150 to 200 kilograms per day.And I would like to thank World Vision Cambodia and who help to make this happen” said by a model farmer, Nov Nat.

After received small business technical training, the 53 vulnerable families who have already prepared the small business plan, also received a package of inputs with an amount 250 US dollars in kinds to start up their small business for each family business plan on farm like pig raising, ducks raising, chicken raising and off -farm like open repairing shop and community shop. Of these, 31 families raising pigs received a total of 92 piglets (3 piglets per family, 16 families raising breeding pigs received a total of Sow 16 heads, 2 families raising ducks received a total of 32 ducklings, 3 families raising chickens received a total of 60 and 1 family open agricultural community shop. “When I woke up in the morning, I was very hopeful and really excited because I saw the white duck eggs in the nest. I used them to cook for the family meals and sell them to earn the money to support my children's education," said by Sister, Uy Vannak. Sister Uy Vannak's family received a support package for the business, receiving 50 ducks from the project. Now, sister can get 25 to 30 eggs from the ducks per day.This is an implementation of a project “Improving Food and Nutrition Security and Resilience of Vulnerable Farming Households (IFNSR)” at Banteay Meanchey Province, under the assistance of World Vision America and Cambodia in the area of operation of Preah Net Preah District, Banteay Meanchey Province.

កសិករចំនួន២២គ្រួសារត្រូវបានផ្តល់ឱកាសការរៀនសូត្រពីគ្នាទៅវិញទៅមកស្តីពីសហគ្រិនជោគជ័យនៃការធ្វើអាជីវកម្មផ្ទាល់ លើដំណើរការបច្ចេកទេស ការគ្រប់គ្រង ចំនុចប្រឈម ដំណោះស្រាយ និងការដឹកនាំភារកិច្ចដើម្បីទទួលបានលទ្ធផលជោគជ័យ។ តាមរយៈការរៀននេះបានជួយផ្តល់កម្លាំងចិត្តទំនុកចិត្តនិងក្តីសង្ឈឹមដល់គ្រួសារបង្កើនគោលដៅក្នុងផលិតកម្មរបស់ខ្លួនសម្រាប់តម្រូវការទីផ្សារ។ ដែលនេះជាការអនុវត្តន៍គម្រោងលើកកម្ពស់សុវត្ថិភាពស្បៀង អាហាររូបត្ថម្ភ និងមុខរបរចិញ្ចឹមជីវិតដល់គ្រួសារងាយរងគ្រោះដើម្បីបន្សាំនិងការប្រែប្រួលអាកាសធាតុ ខេត្តបន្ទាយមានជ័យ ក្រោមជំនួយអង្គការទស្សនៈពិភពលោកអាមេរិក និងកម្ពុជាក្នុងតំបន់ប្រតិបត្តិការស្រុកព្រះនេត្រព្រះ ខេត្តបន្ទាយមានជ័យ។

There are twenty-two farmer families that were given the opportunity to learn from each other about the successful entrepreneurs in their own businesses, on technical processes, management, challenges, solutions, and leadership to achieve successful results. Through this learning, it has helped to give strength, confidence, and hope to the family to increase their production goals for market needs. This is an implementation of a project “Improving Food and Nutrition Security and Resilience of Vulnerable Farming Households (IFNSR)” at Banteay Meanchey Province, under the assistance of World Vision America and Cambodia in the area of operation of Preah Net Preah District, Banteay Meanchey Province.

May 16th 2025, there was a visit of the World Bank regional delegation in East Asia and the Pacific from17 countries to Cambodia: the Implementation of Social Accountability. The trip was organised to learn and extract lessons from experiences related to the implementation of Social Accountability work by commune administrations, primary schools, and health centres, as well as the contribution of community social accountability activities. These efforts have directly impacted job performance and public service provision at the grassroots level, especially improving citizens' daily living conditions.

The project “Improving Food and Nutrition Security and Resilience of Vulnerable Farming Households (IFNSR)” based in Banteay Meanchey province has received a visit from Mr.Diego Manzana, Technical Advisor on Livelihoods of World Vision Germany in order to review the achievements of successful projects on improving food security, including: family and large-scale vegetable farming, raising chickens, ducks, and producing meat and eggs for daily food/meals ;and selling it to improve the family livelihoods. Through this visit, it was shown that the project has a family production chain, a production group, the creation of a collection point for products produced by farmers, and connections to existing agricultural communities in the area.
