7th Annual Devolution Conference The 7th Annual Devolution Conference shall be held from 20th - 23rd April 2020 in Makueni County. The last six conferences have focused on various issues with a key focus on the devolution journey, including the space of National and County Governments in the implementation of the Big Four Agenda and reviewing its implementation. The major attractions in the County are the Isiolo Big five (Grevy Zebra, Oryx, Somali Ostrich, Lion and the reticulated giraffe). The Isiolo Big Five are found in the Buffalo Springs Game Reserve bordering Samburu Game Reserve, Shaba Game Reserve and Bisnadi Game Reserve near Meru Game Reserve and Lewa Conservancy. The Garissa Giraffe Sanctuary The Garissa Community Giraffe sanctuary (GCGS) is located 3Km south of Garissa Town, bordering the dusty Bour-Algi village. The County's tourist attraction sites remain largely unexploited. Key among them is the proposed new route to climbing Mt. Kenya through Embu town and Kianjokoma on the western side. The mountain attracts over ten thousand climbers annually especially those who climb Lenana and Batian peaks and at least a quarter of them will be expected to use the new route once opened.
