The first chapter of our guests’ East African adventure is complete! 🇰🇪✨

After an incredible journey through Kenya, our guests have now flown directly to Serengeti for the next five days of their safari. We’ll reunite again in Amboseli for the final leg of this unforgettable adventure.

It has been a privilege watching them experience their very first African safari—seeing the excitement, wonder, and appreciation for the wildlife, landscapes, and cultures that make this continent so special.
Safe travels through Tanzania, and we look forward to creating more memories together in Amboseli. 🐘🦁🌍

There’s something deeply calming about the quietness and serenity of Ithumba Reintegration Unit. Watching the elephants gather for their evening slurp against the vast wilderness views is a reminder that travel doesn’t always have to be rushed.

This is a place where time slows down, where the days are guided by nature, elephants, and stillness. A daily dose of these gentle giants, endless views, and the peaceful rhythm of Ithumba makes it truly worth a visit.

A gentle 3.5 km walk through the forest at Ngare Ndare Forest turns into an immersive experience — learning to identify bird calls, discovering indigenous plant species, and understanding the delicate balance of this ecosystem.

With every step, the forest reveals more… from towering canopy trees to the quiet movement of wildlife around you 🐦

And just when you think it couldn’t get better — you arrive at the highlight.

A plunge into the crystal-clear, icy waters flowing straight from Mount Kenya, at the natural swimming pools tucked deep within the forest. Refreshing, raw, and incredibly rejuvenating.

Ngare Ndare is more than just a forest — it’s a vital wildlife corridor linking Lewa and Mount Kenya, often frequented by elephants, and home to diverse birdlife and rare plant species. The iconic canopy walk offers a unique perspective from above, letting you experience the forest from the treetops.

We watched these three baby elephants turn the savannah into their personal playground — dust flying, tiny trunks wrestling, dramatic falls included (don’t worry, they bounce back fast 😄).
And here’s what makes baby elephants even more fun:
🐘 They suck their trunks like human babies suck their thumbs — it comforts them when they’re nervous or sleepy.
🐘 They can’t control their trunks at first! Imagine having 40,000 muscles and no idea how to use them. That’s why you see them tripping over it or swinging it wildly.
🐘 They cry when stressed and run straight to mum for reassurance. Family is everything.
🐘 They’re born weighing around 100kg — basically the size of a small motorcycle… but still convinced they’re lap babies.
Watching them reminds you that the wild isn’t just about big tuskers and dramatic predator hunts — sometimes it’s about pure, innocent joy.
Moments like this are why we do what we do at Jemu Expeditions.

If you’ve ever been on safari with us, you may have noticed we sometimes stop not for wildlife but for what doesn’t belong here.

Whenever we come across litter in the parks, we collect what we safely can. At times, it’s simply too much to handle on a single drive and in those cases we take the initiative to report it to the relevant authorities.

The saddest truth is that only humans can find a place so breathtaking and leave it scarred behind.

A heartfelt thank you to our guests who have stepped in to help when it’s safe to do so. Conservation isn’t just about what we protect—it’s about how we behave when no one is watching.
