šŸ’Š Health Lesson Learned the Hard Way!

Ever ignored the leaflet inside your medication box? I did—and paid a heavy price. Many of us trust that once a doctor prescribes medicine, all is well. But here’s the truth: medications come with contraindications, interactions, and instructions for a reason. Skipping this information can lead to serious side effects or even life-threatening situations.

My experience taught me that ignorance is NOT bliss when it comes to health. I learned that certain foods, drinks, and even over-the-counter drugs can dangerously interact with prescription medicines. Some conditions make specific drugs unsafe, and only by reading the leaflet or asking questions can you avoid harm.

Takeaway? Always read the instructions, ask your doctor or pharmacist, and never assume. Your health—and life—could depend on it.

Have you ever faced a situation where you got criticized over something you may already be struggling with? It could be a character trait, the way you handled a particular situation, a decision you made, etc.

āœļø How did the criticism make you feel? Did it make you defensive? Did it cause you to beat yourself up?

Let me begin by pointing out something. If you faced criticism or rejection from a young age and have not put in the work to heal, it is especially difficult to handle criticism because it pokes unhealed emotional wounds. Criticism acts as a trigger. You might not be in control of the way you react.

Getting triggered by criticism is unfortunate because we all can learn a lot from criticism (both positive and negative criticism). We may not learn from destructive criticism since its intention is to hurt (you may be familiar with those people who throw punches about the shape of your nose, your height, the color of your skin, how you got terminated at work or lost money, the way your mom, dad or sibling died, etc.)

It is important to keep in mind the fact that as long as we are alive and breathing, we shall be criticized. Unhealed emotional wounds bleed when one is criticized and that can punch a dent on your self esteem, which may already be fragile as a result of damage inflicted in childhood.

So, how best do you handle criticism? First and foremost is developing the capacity to listen to critics with an open mind because you can learn something from them.

🧘You may need to learn relaxation exercises because if you fail to calm yourself down, the fight-flight-freeze-fawn impulse will kick in and you will lose control, probably end up lashing out at the other party or storming out then feeling bad about it afterwards.

You need to learn how to speak to yourself at such moments "it is okay... I am safe... I can learn something from this... Every conversation is a learning experience..."

🤠It is only if you can calm yourself down that you will be able to learn from criticism and grow. Not all criticism is intended to hurt you. Some of it is like an extra set of eyes, illuminating parts of you that you are not able to see.

šŸŽÆ Learn from criticism and become a better person. You will fail sometimes so practice forgiving yourself when that happens. Mistakes are not fatal. Things won't fall in place in a day. Keep practicing. Keep strengthening your muscles. šŸ’Ŗ You will get better gradually.

Empowering people requires patience, compassion and also techniques to make it possible to bypass the conscious mind with it's chatter chatter chatter...

Unaddressed trauma from the past blocks the ability to accept new information. It is the power of the fight-flight-freeze-fawn response.

Don't blame people for resisting helpful information. Empower them by using effective techniques šŸ’Ŗ

Don't be quick to judge people for having not succeeded in helping someone who is struggling. It is not that easy to bring about change in another human being šŸ™

🧠 Kib’s Story: When Tradition Meets Reality

Kib was a man deeply rooted in tradition. Raised in a culture where roles were clearly defined, he grew up believing that domestic chores were strictly the domain of women. Married to two wives, he never cooked, cleaned, or even washed his own cup—not out of pride or cruelty, but because it simply wasn’t what men did.

Even after relocating from the rural village to an urban setting, surrounded by modern conveniences and changing social dynamics, Kib’s mindset stayed the same. When his wife fell ill and the burden of housework became too heavy, he watched in silence, still unable to break the code of his upbringing.

šŸ’ His story isn’t just about one man; it’s about how deeply our beliefs are shaped by the traditions we inherit, often unconsciously. Kib wasn’t unwilling—he was conditioned. His actions were the result of decades of programming, not a lack of love.

This story invites us to ask:
šŸ‘‰ What are we holding onto because of tradition?

šŸ§ šŸ’„ Is Cholesterol Really the Villain?
Every week, I’m asked the same question: Is high cholesterol truly a major contributor to poor health? Despite ongoing efforts to offer a balanced, evidence-based view, the mainstream narrative hasn't shifted much. My answer? It’s not a simple yes or no.

🩺 Truth is: Cholesterol supports your body—it’s essential for hormone production, brain function, and cellular repair. The real threat comes from chronic inflammation driven by poor diet and lifestyle, which throws your cholesterol levels out of balance. So rather than blaming cholesterol, we should tackle the root cause.

šŸ„—šŸ’Ŗ Nourish your body with wholesome foods. Prioritize rest, movement, and emotional well-being. Treating cholesterol without addressing inflammation is like mopping a flooded floor while the tap is still running—you’ll never get ahead. You might even ā€œdie mopping.ā€

🌿 Weight loss doesn’t have to be a mystery.
The truth? It’s not how much you eat, but what you eat. For me, carbs—not fats or animal protein—were the main culprit. I lost 25 kg in one year, eating two full plates of food each day. How? I focused on quality, not quantity.ty.

The truth? It’s not how much you eat, but what you eat. For me, carbs, not fats or animal protein, were the main culprit. I lost 25 kg in one year, eating two full plates of food each day. How? I focused on quality, not quantity.

Here’s what worked for me:
āœ… Cut out refined carbs, sugars, and sweets (Kabisa!)
āœ… Walked daily; nothing fancy, just consistent, 8,000 - 10,000 steps each day
āœ… Practiced intermittent fasting (8–12 hours); two meals a day
āœ… Exercised gratitude and mindfulness daily

✨ The result: steady, natural weight loss; 2 to 3 kg a month, without starvation or harsh dieting. Let your lifestyle and mindset work with your body, not against it.

You don’t need a miracle. You need a little consistency, patience, and truth.
