A cloud provider in Asia is seeking $635 million backed by GPUs and the contracts to use them. NVIDIA is now financing GPU deployments directly, revenue-share style. Even inference chips are being used as loan collateral. The message: GPU financing is now a real, bankable category not hype.
What does that mean for you? If you're an AI startup, cloud operator, or enterprise in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, or beyond and you need serious compute but don't want to burn equity to get it that's the exact problem Siscom Capital solves. We finance the GPUs, structured around your revenue and contracts, so you can deploy now instead of waiting years.
The rest of the world isn't waiting. Neither should you.
πŸ“ž Reach out to Siscom Capital let's talk about financing your GPU infrastructure.

Whenever a new LLM drops GPT, Grok, Llama we end up reverse-engineering the sheer scale of resources behind it.

Take Meta's open-source Llama 7B. That "B" stands for billion 7 billion parameters the model was trained on.

But having the software is only half the story. To actually run models at this scale, you need serious compute power and robust Cloud IaaS behind them.

So how do we support these massive models? In Part 3, we shift gears to the topic that matters most to us at Siscom: the physical infrastructure that makes AI possible.

10/07/2026

The AI race just got louder Fable 5, Grok 4.5, and GPT-5 all dropped this week. But Africa still doesn't have a single homegrown LLM. Why?
Derrick breaks down the real math: Meta's Llama 3 70B took roughly 180,000 A100 GPU-hours to train 54 days on a cluster of 25,000+ A100 chips, at about $35,000 per chip. That's not a talent gap, it's a capital gap.
Africa today has an estimated 5,000 H200 GPUs in active deployment, mostly in South Africa and North Africa. Kenya has fewer than 50.
You don't launch an airline before you build the airport. The continent's AI ambitions need compute infrastructure and financing first the experiments can follow.
This is the gap Siscom Capital is built to close. Watch the full breakdown πŸ‘‡

Africa's collective AI push runs on roughly 10,000 GPUs. The United States alone commands an estimated 2.5 million+.
That's a 250x+ gap and it's not a talent problem.
Siscom founder Derrick Gakuu puts it plainly: "Africa isn't losing the AI race because we lack talent. We're losing it because we don't own the ground the compute stands on."
A gap this size doesn't close by adopting more tools built elsewhere. It closes when African businesses can actually finance and own the GPUs they need not just access them.
That's exactly what Siscom's GPU financing model is built to do: put compute ownership in African hands.
Infrastructure here. Owned here. Financed here. That's the mission.

Is AI really just "an app you deploy" or is it infrastructure, like power and roads?
That's the question Ben Roberts (Founder, Digital Economy Advisors) put to the room at our Sovereign Digital Infrastructure conversation, co-hosted with Siscom at Capital Club East Africa Nairobi.
His take: if AI is infrastructure, then building it takes more than good tech it takes capital, power, and policy working together.
We broke it down into 4 big questions facing Africa's AI future:
Can businesses scale AI without security risks?
Can we build enough data centers to keep up with demand?
Can investors de-risk AI bets while still winning big?
Can governments create the frameworks to make it all work?
What's your take which of these is the biggest bottleneck for Africa right now? Let us know in the comments πŸ‘‡

A New Era for Kenyan SMEs: Siscom Secures CA Certification to Drive AI and Cloud Adoption πŸ‡°πŸ‡ͺπŸš€

We are thrilled to announce that Siscom Technology Limited has been officially certified as a licensed Content Service Provider by the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA).

But this is more than just a regulatory milestone it’s the launchpad for our mission to empower 10,000 Kenyan SMEs with the AI-ready cloud infrastructure and compliant communication platforms they need to scale globally.

In Kenya, there are over 7.4 million MSMEs. Data shows that digitizing operations can increase revenue and efficiency by up to 130% in just the first year. Our CEO, Derrick Gakuu, puts it perfectly:
"At Siscom, we ask ourselves: how do we make this possible for these SMEs in a compliant, affordable, and data-sovereign way? This licensing gives us the regulated channel to do exactly that."

Alongside our ODPC regulation as a Data Processor and Controller, this CA certification ensures our partners get premium, secure, and sovereign solutions from AI-enabled web apps to omni-channel messaging (WhatsApp, SMS, Email).

The future of Kenyan business is digital, compliant, and powered by AI. Let’s build it together.

OpenAI just raised $122 BILLION. πŸ’°

Let that sink in. One company. One funding round. $852 billion valuation.

Why? Because the world's biggest investors know that AI infrastructure the data centers, the chips, the compute power is the greatest wealth-building opportunity of our lifetime.

Here's what most Kenyans don't know:

That same opportunity exists RIGHT HERE. Kenya's government has committed $1.19 billion toward AI infrastructure. Data centers are being built. AI clusters are going up. The digital backbone of Africa's economy is under construction.

The smart money is moving. The only question is are you moving with it?
