Shelter Afrique Development Bank’s Managing Director, Habib Hann, signs a partnership agreement with The University of Nairobi’s Vice Chancellor, Eng. Prof. Ayub N. Gitau, and awards young innovators at the Nairobi Innovation Week ( ), in the presence of Dr. Tonny K. Omwansa, PhD, CEO of the Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA) as Chief Guest, and faculty members.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to advancing Africa’s innovation ecosystem and supporting sustainable socio-economic transformation through collaboration in four key areas:
1- Skills development and innovation,
2- Sustainability and ESG,
3- Industrialisation, and
4- Intra-Africa knowledge exchange.
Highlighting the value of collaboration, Eng. Prof. Ayub Gitau noted: “No single institution can achieve this alone. Lasting transformation will only be realised through strong partnerships, shared purpose, and a collective commitment to translating ideas into tangible socio-economic impact.”
On his part, looking forward, ShafDB’s MD, Mr Hann, emphasized: "If we want to address African challenges at scale, then Nairobi Innovation Week must be Pan-African, then Global. That’s how we bring together partners, capital, and ideas to fund the next generation of builders." On the awards, he also added: “The awards we are supporting today are our intentional commitment towards championing innovation, and this aligns well with our Centre of Excellence, which seeks to bridge the skills gap and establish a strong foundation for future generations. I salute the winners, and we look forward to supporting next year's Global NIW”
