To all Kenyan employers,
I salute you.
Despite these very harsh economic times, you have hang on.
And those employees who depend on that paycheck at end month are beyond grateful that at least a loaf of bread or a packet of flour is assured at the dinner table.
But I ask you this;
Why are you exposing your business to liability?
Picture this scenario.
Your employee gets an occupational illness or accident at your workplace.
By Kenyan law, you owe 96 months salary or wage if your employee unfortunately succumbs to the illness or accident, or, ends up being permanently disabled.
*Do you have Kshs 1,302,912/= to give their beneficiaries if this were to happen? I base this amount on the minimum wage currently in the books i.e: Kshs 13,572/= per employee.*
Are you willing to see your life's work, blood, sweat and tears go down the drain simply because you never backstopped your business against such a liability?
