How to file a third party insurance claim.

The first party is the insured individual. The second party is the insurance company. The third party is another individual.

Therefore, a third-party insurance claim is made by someone who is not the policyholder or the insurance company.

Process of filing a third party claim.

1. Take photos at the scene of accident capturing the motor vehicles, their registration numbers and the insurance certificate displayed at the front windscreen. Also capture the name of the other driver, phone number, his/her insurance company and policy number.

2. Report to the nearest police station and obtain police abstracts.

3. If at-fault, go and repair your car without mbrrrrcha.

4. If at no-fault, you can proceed to file a claim with the at-fault driver insurance company.

5. At the at-fault driver insurance company you will fill a claim form, attaching your driving licence, logbook copy, photos at the scene, police abstract, garage estimates, assessment reports and receipts of repair.

6. The at-fault driver's insurance company will receive your claim, evaluate and process it.

7. After processing they can either give you a settlement offer or a repudiation letter.

8. Incase of a settlement offer, once you accept you will be required to provide your bank details for settlement.

9. Incase of a repudiation letter you either accept it and bare the damages or appeal to the at-fault driver insurance company, the insurance regulatory authority (I.R.A) or employ the services of a lawyer and sue the at-fault driver and his insurance company.
