Across Africa, beans are more than a staple crop. They are a pathway to better nutrition, stronger incomes, and more resilient farming systems. Through our collaboration with the Pan-Africa Bean Research Alliance ( ), Pesira Limited is helping digitize and strengthen bean value chains across the continent.
PABRA, a flagship initiative facilitated by the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT under the network, works with hundreds of partners across more than 30 African countries to improve bean production, nutrition, and farmer livelihoods. The program has already released over 650 improved bean varieties and reached more than 40 million smallholder farmers across Africa, many of them women.
Within this ecosystem, Pesira Limited is leading the digital transformation layer of the bean economy. Through our platform, we are supporting programs such as BRAINS, Accelerate, B4WE, Inclusive delivery and other PABRA initiatives by building digital infrastructure that connects farmers to finance, markets, knowledge, and traceability systems.
Our work includes:
• Digitizing farmer records and value chain data across multiple African countries
• Supporting traceability and transparency across bean supply chains
• Enabling access to financial services and structured markets for smallholder farmers
• Strengthening farmer visibility and bankability within agricultural ecosystems
• Supporting inclusive programs that empower women and youth farmers
Today, through our collaboration with PABRA, Pesira is supporting over 300,000 farmers across 15 African countries, helping build resilient, inclusive, and digitally connected agricultural systems.
As agriculture evolves, digital infrastructure will be the backbone that ensures farmers are not just producers but active participants in modern agricultural economies.
At Pesira, we are proud to be contributing to a continental movement that is transforming beans from a simple crop into a driver of food security, climate resilience, and inclusive prosperity across Africa.
