Transforming Agriculture in Kenya’s ASALs through Digital Innovation
The Vision for Adapted Crops and Soils (VACS) project, implemented by (SSG) in partnership with CIMMYT, is promoting the adoption of opportunity crops that are better suited to the unique conditions of Kenya’s Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs).
Through digitisation by , we are supporting the project with digital tools that strengthen farmer engagement, data collection, monitoring, and access to agricultural information—helping connect farmers, agrodealers and stakeholders across the agricultural value chain.
As part of our field activities, we visited Mui, Waita Market, Ngomeni, Mwingi, and Winzyeei, engaging with local agricultural stakeholders and supporting the digitisation efforts on the ground.
By promoting crops adapted to local soils and climatic conditions, we can help build more resilient farming systems, strengthen food security, and create sustainable livelihoods for communities in Kenya’s ASALs.
