Baby step 1.
Walk into Financial Freedom.

If you want to win with money, you can't do what you've always done. You need a plan that WORKS. The 7 Baby Steps are a clear path to show you exactly how to make progress and reach your money goals. Over the next several days, we're diving in to each Baby Step. If you focus and do these in order, one at a time, they WILL change your life.

BEFORE you start paying off any debt, you've got to STOP adding more debt to your life. You can't get out of a hole by digging it deeper.

Then, it's important to save a starter emergency fund of $1,000. This is known as Baby Step 1.

Doing this as quickly as you can will help to protect your progress while paying off debt in Baby Step 2. If something small, but unexpected happens, you won't have to choose between fixing a flat tire on your car or making progress with your money. If an actual emergency comes up, use some of your $1,000 to take care of it. Then, save that fund back up to $1,000 and continue on your journey to financial peace! Remember, a shopping spree is NOT an emergency.

Baby Step 1 is the easiest, but in some ways it's also the hardest step. You've got to decide you're ready to take this journey. You may need to sell something, take on extra time at work, and do what it takes to get $1,000 FAST. This will give you a quick win and the confidence to push forward to the other Baby Steps.

🛑 If you're behind on any bills, make sure to get current on those before beginning the 7 Baby Steps, even before saving this beginner emergency fund.

3. Save 3-6 months of expenses for emergencies.
4. Invest 15% of your income for retirement.
5. Save for college for your children.
6. Pay off your home and do it early.
7. Build wealth & give to impact others.
