MEMBERSHIP IS OPEN TO ALL KENYANS EVEN THOSE IN THE DIASPORA. Zoghori Sacco was established in 2004 and registered in the year 2005 with the aim of improving the lifestyle of the community through inculcating a saving culture for prosperity and to liberate the community from being that of a consumer in nature. As a result, funds mobilized provide cheap access to credit facilities and educate and bring awareness on nurturing a saving culture; personal financial management and identification of opportunities and investments. Access to financial facilities was a night mare for the majority of members of the community especially in the informal sector. An institution that would invest in transforming the culture- change was the way forward for the community, an institution by the people for the people. Zoghori Sacco makes contributions in areas that we believe are important to the future of our National vitality and success. First priority is to support programs and organizations which chief purpose is to benefit low-and moderate-income individuals and families. We look for projects that keep our communities strong and vibrant. Zoghori Sacco is committed to supporting and improving our local communities. We give food and clothing’s to orphanages and education funding to students from orphanages. We also organize education seminars and youth congress geared to nurturing a saving and investment culture, personal financial management among others for prosperity. Most of our programs are geared to:
 Help nurture a saving and investment culture to enable communities to come out of consumer bracket.
 Help provide affordable, easy to access loans to registered members
 Help provide affordable plots/housing loans for low and moderate income individuals
 Promote economic development by financing small business or small firms
 Provide job training for low and moderate income individuals
 Provide financial education and promote economic empowerment
 Help to revitalize low and moderate income communities. As it’s always said “if you think education is expensive try ignorance” I must admit funding for education and awareness remains a challenge. The Sacco currently has four branches , the main office in Mombasa which is Opposite GPO POSTA(Huduma Center), Tilu Bilu Building First Floor Left Wing. Wundanyi branch at WUNDANYI MATATU STAGE and Voi branch at the ACK Cathedral Stalls, Stall No. 14 and Taveta branch at the matatu stage next to Naekana office. The Sacco has grown over the sixteen years with more than 3,000 members and an asset base of over 140m and has been on the fore front in transforming the community lives in various aspects. The Sacco has transformed the lives of many people by offering them a platform to accumulate savings and use credit facilities.The Sacco has been in the fore front in educating its members on personal financial management, investment, identifying business opportunities among others.The Sacco ensures that social performance is part of its business. The Sacco has the CSR vehicle Zoghori Foundation which ensures needy students reach their education goals and runs youth seminars and congress meetings.
