United with the Pope, with a deep love for our mother the
Church and with the leadership and blessings of our father the Bishop of Homa Bay Diocese the Rt. Bishop Philip Arnold Anyolo (nihil sine episcopo) we embark on a most noble undertaking to build the St Augustine Catholic Church Achego. The parishioners of this rural sub-parish totalling to 8,300 people want to do this work well and complete it lovingly so that it can deserve the praise of God – “better is the end of a task than the beginning.”
St Augustine Catholic Church Achego is a much needed rural Church for the Kagan community of Catholic Diocese of Homa Bay in Kenya, Africa. The construction of this Church will be very important in spreading, deepening and the practice of our Catholic faith. It will help us increase our faith, hope and charity. Like the apostles we ask the Lord to increase our faith – adauge nobis fidem! We want to build a Church worthy of our Lord. This Church is crucial in fostering holiness in the Kagan community and beyond. St Augustine of Hippo said “Thou hast made us for Thyself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in in Thee.” Inspired by this Saint to be fully united to our Lord, we embark on the undertaking to construct St Augustine Catholic Church, Achego. It will consist of the Church with a capacity of 1200 people, the priest’s office and the priest’s house. This proposal requests your kind support through a donation which will meet the cost of constructing the Church, priests’ office and house. The parishioners undertake to contribute at least ten per cent of the total resources needed to successfully complete the Church. The plan is to complete the construction of the Church by Christmas of 2017. St Augustine Catholic Church Achego falls under St Arnold Nyalieng'a Parish in the Asumbi Deanery of Homa Bay Diocese, Kenya. It servers the Kagan community which has a population 30,553 people. St Augustine Achego currently has a small and old Church that is inadequate for the faithful. There is a great need for new Church to bring the Sacraments closer to the faithful. Consultations carried out with parishioners, the parish priest, Fr. Anthony Oyamo, under the direction of our Bishop the Rt. Bishop Philip Arnold Anyolo agreed to the construction of a new Church with a capacity of 1200, the priests’ office and house. Expression of Need
To successfully complete the project we need Kenya Shillings 82,635,000.00 (€794,567.31). This cost is broken down below:
a) Church and adoration chapel with a capacity of 1200 people: Kenya Shillings 68,700,000.00. b) Priests’ house accommodating two priests, a seminarian and a guest: Kenya Shillings 4,000,000. c) Priests’ office for two priests and a meeting room plus a vehicle for the priests: Kenya Shillings 6,000,000.
