The Annual Branch General Meeting of the Kenya Universities Staff Union (KUSU) was held on 7th August 2026 at the MEA Building, Masinde Muliro University.

Matters Arising
1. Staff Reviews, Promotions, and Placements
2. Medical Cover
3. Contract Employment โ€“ Members expressed concern that staff have remained on contract for too long, noting that despite previous resolutions, their terms of service have not been converted to Permanent and Pensionable.
4. Staff Training
5. Recruitment of New Members โ€“ It was highlighted that following the recent staff promotion exercise, several staff members transitioned from the KUDHEIHA cadre to KUSU.

Sacco Representation
Wevarsity Sacco Society Ltd was represented by Hellen Machuma (Assistant Marketing Officer) and Director Cornelius Chemwile, who emphasized that the Sacco has significantly improved its products and services. They highlighted Agri-Deposit products as a key strategy moving forward, designed to incorporate both salaried and non-salaried members. They also noted that mobile banking services have been enhanced to better serve members.

The County Government of Kakamega today concluded the induction of 58 newly appointed Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teachers into the County Public Service. On this final day, the teachers were equipped with essential skills and knowledge to deliver quality learning and holistic development for young learners.

Wevarsity Sacco Society Ltd also took the opportunity to showcase its products and services. Representing the Sacco, Marketing Officer Joyce Akala encouraged the newly employed teachers to prioritize saving and investing for their future.

The teachers, recruited on permanent and pensionable terms, will serve in various schools across the county, strengthening early childhood education and improving learning outcomes for young learners.
