Period poverty remains a major challenge, especially for young women in rural communities. It continues to affect dignity, school attendance, and overall wellbeing.

At C-RISE, we are currently in discussions with partners to explore a new initiative aimed at training young women on how to make reusable sanitary pads. While the program is not yet officially launched, it is an idea we are seriously developing and hope to roll out soon.

Today, on Menstrual Hygiene Day, we join the global conversation on breaking barriers around menstrual health and promoting sustainable, affordable solutions.

Today, our hearts are heavy. 💔

We join the Utumishi Senior Girls Academy community in mourning the painful loss of young souls taken too soon. No words can truly ease the grief of families, friends, teachers, and loved ones during this heartbreaking moment.

We stand in solidarity, in prayer, and in hope — praying for comfort, healing, and strength for everyone affected.

This Children’s Day, we celebrate the joy, resilience, and limitless potential of every child — while also reflecting on a challenge that continues to affect many rural families: child malnutrition.

At C-RISE, we believe that lasting change begins at the household level. That is why we are advancing our Household Fruit Growing & Nutrition Initiative — empowering families to plant and nurture nutrient-rich fruit trees, with papaya being one of the key fruits we are promoting to support healthier children and stronger communities.

Rich in essential vitamins and nutrients, papaya can play a meaningful role in improving child nutrition, strengthening immunity, and supporting healthy growth. But beyond fruit, we are cultivating something even greater — healthier habits, food security, self-reliance, and hope for the future.

By helping households grow what nourishes them, we are planting seeds of transformation — where every child has a better chance to grow, learn, and flourish.
Because healthy children mean stronger families, thriving communities, and a brighter tomorrow. 🌍✨

Last week, on 21st May, Centre For Rural Innovation And Sustainable Enterprise was honoured to be part of the launch of the SHOFCO Community Resource Centre in Oyugis, Homa Bay County — a powerful milestone in strengthening community empowerment and expanding access to opportunities.

We sincerely appreciate the transformative work being championed by Dr. Kennedy Odede through Shining Hope for Communities in creating inclusive spaces that empower communities through mentorship, access to services, education, and economic opportunities. His vision continues to inspire hope and meaningful change across communities.
