Jersey Financial Services Commission

Jersey Financial Services Commission We support the long-term success of Jersey’s financial services sector for the good of our entire island community.

This is the official page for the Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC) - the financial services regulator for the Island of Jersey. The JFSC is responsible for:

a) The supervision, authorisation, oversight and development of financial services in or from within Jersey
b) Providing the States of Jersey with reports, advice, assistance and information in connection with financial se

rvices
c) Making recommendations for Laws and Regulations applying to the finance industry

The Commission aims to:

- Ensure that all authorised financial services and individuals meet appropriate criteria and that we match international standards of banking, securities, trust company business, and insurance regulation, as well as anti-money laundering and terrorist financing defences.

- Be effective in combatting terrorism and financial crime as part of the wider international effort in this respect

- Work closely with fellow regulators and law makers to ensure access to efficient and effective markets for financial services

- Be an agile and thoughtful regulator in reducing risk to depositors and investors whilst being proportionate so that the costs of regulation do not outweigh their benefits. Please note all images and content are copyright of the Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC)

Help shape the future of our digital services.

Better digital services make it easier to do business - and that matters for Jersey’s economic growth.

The Government of Jersey's Time to Win report is clear on the role digital plays in keeping the island competitive. We’re taking that forward with JFSC Connect - a new way for registry customers and industry to share feedback on our online services.

We’re keen to hear what works well, what doesn’t, and where we can improve. That feedback will directly shape what we do next.

We’ve also strengthened the team behind this work:

• Daniel De Oliveira, Executive Director of Technology and Data, brings more than 20 years’ experience in offshore financial services and leads our digital and data agenda.
• Ria Sheppard, Digital Experience Lead, has worked at eBay and MoneySuperMarket and is focused on making our services simpler and easier to use.

Advance fee fraud warning: Prime Defender Group

We are warning members of the public about Prime Defender Group. They have cold-called a member of the public, falsely claimed their investment had increased in value, and offered to recover these funds for a fee. This is a common sign of advance fee fraud.

Warning signs of advance fee fraud include:

• unexpected contact from someone claiming to be from an investment firm, recovery service or bank
• being told your investment has increased in value, funds are waiting to be released, or they can recover funds you have lost
• requests for payment of fees before you receive any benefit, sometimes using unusual payment methods
• pressure to act quickly or urgently

If you are contacted in this way, do not give out personal or financial information. Report the incident by emailing [email protected] or calling +44 (0) 1534 822000.
