Community Savings

Community Savings A helping hand in times of need. Community Savings provides charitable help with money matters. Community Savings is not a bank but operates like a credit union.

Community Savings is a charity which is able to offer account facilities and, in some circumstances, emergency funding to islanders who are in need of such help. Accounts are generally available to all, including those who may be blacklisted elsewhere. Our advisers are able to provide guidance to those who open accounts on how to manage their monthly budgeting. You can open an account for day-to-d

ay use along with a separate savings account, similar to a bank. Any money you save will earn a dividend once a year.

We were delighted to welcome the Bailiff of Jersey to our offices at Community Savings last week, following his recent appointment as Patron of the charity.

During his visit, he met with members of our Board and staff to discuss our mission and ongoing commitment to promoting financial inclusion, supporting islanders in accessing essential financial services and emergency grants when they need them the most.

It was a valuable opportunity to share more about the work we do and the positive impact we strive to make within our island community.

📉 Keeping our members and supporters informed...According to the report below inflation in Jersey has edged down slightly but is this just a temporary dip?

Latest figures show prices are still 2.7% higher year-on-year, with rising costs in fuel, food and leisure continuing to impact households. But economists warn global tensions could push inflation back up in the coming months.

💬 What does this mean for the cost of living? And could we see prices climb again soon? If you need support in creating a budget to manage your finances you can access our free budget planner on our website through the link below:

A slight fall in the rate of inflation has been announced, but islanders have been warned that an upward curve may be imminent as a result of the war in the Middle East. With the current phase of the military conflict in the Gulf having signalled when the US and Israel launched joint airstrikes agai...

We’re delighted to announce that the Bailiff of Jersey, Robert MacRae, KC, has become the new Patron of Community Savings, succeeding Sir Timothy Le Cocq.

This comes at an important time for our charity as we continue to expand support for Islanders seeking financial inclusion. The Bailiff’s leadership and commitment to public service will help shine a light on our work and reach more people in the community.

Our Chief Executive, Stephen Reilly, said: “The Bailiff’s endorsement is a tremendous honour and a strong signal of confidence in our mission.”

Since 1997, Community Savings has been helping Islanders access mainstream banking, alongside providing emergency interest-free loans and grants and with our new Patron, we look forward to building on this impact.

As we come out of the Easter weekend, a recent story really stuck with us, and unfortunately here at Community Savings we know all too well the reality of the situation - Some families here in Jersey are having to make incredibly tough choices, with some saying they’re “choosing between heat and the Easter bunny.”

While Easter is often a time of joy, it’s a reminder that for many, the cost of living continues to bite and everyday essentials are hard to manage.

At Community Savings, we’re here to help. Whether it’s:

• emergency funding

• support with budgeting

• affordable loans offered to our members

• or simply someone to talk to about your finances

you don’t have to face things alone.

If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out to us 💛

Let’s support each other, not just at Easter, but all year round.

Many families across the island will spend the long Easter weekend enjoying egg hunts and celebrations with their children – but a local charity has warned that some parents are struggling to afford even a single Easter egg. It comes after an anonymous Facebook post asked whether any organisations...

A big thank you to NatWest International and our volunteer Tim Deller from Coutts Crown Dependencies for organising and inviting us to present to the Natwest Library Place team about who we are and what we do here at Community Savings.

It was a great session with a really engaged team, who asked thoughtful questions and shared their own experiences of supporting customers. It was fantastic to hear their awareness of how Citizens Advice Jersey supports people with debt management, and to discuss how Community Savings can help with budgeting advice, emergency funding and access to bank accounts when mainstream options aren’t available.

Working together like this helps ensure people get the right support when they need it most and it was great to be part of that conversation.
