🎯 😇Οn April 22nd, 2020, the pre-kick-off e–meeting for the ECOVINEGOALS/Adrion project was 😂successfully held.
🥁Yesterday February 28th 2023 was officially the last day for the INTERREG/ADRION project, our project!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ECOVINEGOALS was designed to effect positive change in industrialized🍇 viticulture in the ADRION region by supporting a transition to agroecology, through the adoption of a holistic, inclusive, systematic approach based on surveys and data analyses, monitoring methodologies and participatory governance mechanisms in the study areas and the cooperation of diverse stakeholders with common and overlapping aims and activities. ECOVINEGOALS promotes sustainability and resilience in the winemaking industry, one of the most important economic sectors in the ADRION region, that exerts a major impact on territorial capital and regional resources.
Typically, the closure of the project is the last 🎬phase. It’s the time for tasks to be completed, deliverables to be submitted, budgets to close and an evaluation cross-check to be done. But is it so simple??? No, it is not… 😉
It’s a great time to look back without the pressure and distractions, and review accomplishments in terms of project outputs, but above all, in terms of the learning procedure for both the partners involved and the stakeholders.
Was our project a learning process? Yes, it definitely was!! 👏
Did we manage to satisfy the most objectives set? Yes, we as 🦹♂️partners did our best to complete all tasks scheduled on the one hand, but also to take corrective actions, face issues and challenges raised due to the specific difficult period during the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the lack of knowledge and the complexity of agroecology itself.
Many deliverables were completed, outputs have been produced, discussions with stakeholders in our eight study areas were organized, presentations and publications were completed, and platforms to further inform and raise awareness on agroecological transition were initiated. There is definitely a low level of awareness of the power of agroecology to provide effective alternatives to many environmentally-damaging artificial inputs (fertilizers, pesticides, etc.), and its value in the remediation of landscapes degraded by industrialized cultivation. There is also low awareness of the value of natural non-industrialized viticulture and its potential as a driver of sustainable rural development – by functioning as a cultural and recreational resource, by supporting nature-based and gastronomic tourism initiatives, and by providing valuable ecosystem services. There is a lack of a shared vision and coordination between local government and viticulture stakeholders to explore mutually beneficial local-rural development initiatives.
We, the project partners of ECOVINEGOALS, did our best to tackle these challenges!!! And we will continue to do so!
deals with the transition towards agroecological viticulture. Transition is a long-term process of change from one state to another. is a good start for the transition to begin.
We, the ECOVINEGOALS partners, will work 💪towards this direction and for this change even though the project is officially over.
Thus, this post is not a good-bye, but basically a good opportunity for us to express our 🙏gratitude to all the viticulturists that participated in our surveys, all those who contributed in the data collection procedure, all the stakeholders who participated in our events and discussions, all our followers, and all those who have at least once visited our official website or social media.
It’s an opportunity to invite everyone to join forces🤝 towards agroecological 🍇viticulture!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stay connected !!!!
