Imagine soaking in warm thermal water with the Alps all around you. ♨️🏔️🇮🇹

In the Aosta Valley, Pré-Saint-Didier is famous for its thermal waters and mountain views.

The spa sits beneath some of the region's most dramatic peaks, creating a pretty unbeatable combination: warm water, fresh Alpine air and mountains stretching out in every direction.

After a day exploring the valley, this might be the perfect way to slow down.

Mountain adventure by day. Thermal relaxation by evening. ✨

Where wild ibex roam beneath one of the Alps' great peaks. 🏔️🦌🇮🇹

Gran Paradiso National Park is Italy's oldest national park, stretching across some of the most spectacular mountain landscapes in the Alps.

Its valleys, forests and high-altitude terrain are home to ibex, chamois, marmots and other Alpine wildlife.

And towering above it all is Gran Paradiso, the only mountain entirely within Italian territory that rises above 4,000 metres.

A place where the scenery isn't the only thing worth looking out for. 👀

The cheese you need to know from the Italian Alps. 🧀🏔️🇮🇹

Fontina has been produced in the Aosta Valley for centuries, using milk from cows raised in the region's mountain pastures.

It's traditionally matured in cool mountain cellars, where it develops its distinctive flavour and texture.

And it's much more than something to put on a cheeseboard - Fontina is at the heart of classic Aosta Valley dishes, especially creamy fondue.

A taste of the mountains, quite literally. 🧀✨

"Autumn tastes pretty good in the Aosta Valley, and this weekend it's all about chestnuts. 🌰

The village of Donnas holds its 54th chestnut festival from tomorrow, 9 to 11 October, at the Salone Bec Renon. Roast chestnuts are called mendaye here, and Sunday is the big day:

From midday: a Valdostan lunch for €15 (cured meats and cheese, polenta with sausage or stew, and dessert)
From 1pm: sign up on the day for the roasting contest, open to anyone
From 2pm: the Pro Loco's roasters hand out mendaye
At 5pm: the winner is crowned with the Castagna d'Oro, the Golden Chestnut

Friday brings a Bavarian dinner and Saturday a dance night. Just down the road, the Marché au Fort food and w**e market fills the village of Bard on 10 and 11 October too, so it's a great weekend for food lovers.

Would you enter the contest, or just eat the results?
