Fortified Village of Lucardo, Montespertoli
A unique opportunity in the heart of the Val D’Elsa. Nestled among the lush vineyards and olive groves of the stunning Tuscan countryside, perched atop a hill offering breathtaking views, stands the Fortified Village of Lucardo, one of the most fascinating and historic sites in the municipality of Montespertoli. With its medieval structure, built around a castle and surrounded by imposing walls, the village has preserved its timeless charm. In many areas, the houses themselves form part of the fortified walls, blending seamlessly into the historical fabric.
The village has retained its historical essence, including the only surviving medieval entrance gate with a full-arch design and remnants of a protruding defensive structure. A well-preserved square break-tower still stands beside the ramp leading to the entrance. Strolling through the quiet alleys of Lucardo offers a journey back in time, immersing visitors in an atmosphere that echoes centuries of history and authenticity.
Within the village, the Castle, the former Olive Mill, and a historic villa are currently the focus of a remarkable redevelopment project. The restoration plan includes significant interventions in strategic areas such as the inner courtyard, public and private parking spaces, wastewater management, and water drainage systems. The renovation of the courtyard will involve removing deteriorated elements and installing new paving that respects the historical context.
Additionally, the project includes the creation of two new parking areas: one mixed-use (public/private) and another exclusively public, located in the Poggio Pagano area. This space will be enhanced with green areas, urban furnishings, and public lighting, becoming a municipal asset.
The overall restoration will result in the creation of 13 exclusive apartments, developed by repurposing the existing volumes of the Castle and the former Olive Mill. These residential units, ranging from 60 to 171 square meters, will offer customizable living solutions to meet various needs. Each apartment will include two private parking spaces in the newly designed parking areas.
