Italy's Volcano Etna Mount Etna is the tallest active volcano in Europe. This stratovolcano is located on the east coast of Sicily, Italy, in the Metropolitan City of Catania.

Mount Etna 🌋 has a national park 😁 obviously the best time to visit is when the volcano is erupting. Unfortunately, we don't know when this is going to happen but they can last a long time. ⌚️

The U.S. marines were involved in an operation called "Operation volcano buster" which was a procedure that involved explosives blasting holes in the lava tube‼️They also used helicopters to drop concrete blocks into the main lava flow to slow down the lava. 💥

Before 2001, Mount Etna 🌋 erupted approximately once every 1.7 years. Since 2001, the volcano has been much more active there has been eruptions every year except in 2007. 😶

Mount Etna 🌋 has two types of eruptions!!😳

Explosive eruptions that take place frequently from its three craters: the central crater, the northeast crater and the southeast crater.

Flank vents located lower down the mountain erupt less frequently and explosively but have higher overall effusion rates.

💥 Sometimes both eruptions can happen at the same time. 💥
