Is Your “Cheap” Trade Actually Expensive to Hold? 👀

The premium you pay is only the entry cost. Theta tells you something equally important — what happens to your position while you wait.

A debit spread can lose value when the expected move takes too long. Adding a carefully selected short put can bring in premium and change the position’s Theta and payoff structure — but it also introduces additional downside risk.

So don't just ask:

“How much does this trade cost?”

Ask:

“What happens to this position if the market does absolutely nothing?”

That question can completely change how you structure an options trade.

Same Trades. Same Win Rate. So Why Did One Trader Blow Up? 👀

Your strategy decides what to trade. Your Position Sizing decides whether you survive being wrong.

Fixed percentage risk, ATR-based sizing or a conservative Kelly Criterion approach all start from the same idea: decide how much capital you're willing to risk before deciding how big the position should be.

Risk 1% per trade and even 10 consecutive full-risk losses leave roughly 90.4% of your starting capital—not a blown account.

Because sometimes the difference between a losing streak and a disaster isn't the setup.

It's the size.

Save this before your next trade.

Can You Survive 5 Losing Trades in a Row?

A losing streak itself rarely destroys an account. Position sizing, revenge trading and abandoning Risk Management during the streak can.

Even a profitable trading system can produce consecutive losses. That’s variance — not automatically proof that your edge has disappeared.

Reduce size. Set a daily loss limit. Judge your ex*****on instead of obsessing over the day’s P&L. And know when to stop.

SEBI’s numbers reveal something bigger than just who wins and who loses.
Smaller accounts showed significantly higher loss rates, alongside extremely high turnover relative to their capital.
As account sizes increased, both the loss rate and relative turnover dropped sharply.
The real lesson isn’t simply “more capital = more profits” — it’s how aggressively you use the capital you have.
Capital was never the edge. Proportion was.

Save this before your next trade, and follow Dileep for more practical trading insights.

The competition in options trading isn’t just another trader sitting on the other side anymore. Increasingly, it’s algorithms.

SEBI data shows just how dominant institutional algos have become in F&O. These systems can process market data, react to order flow, manage risk and execute trades at speeds a manual trader simply cannot match.

That changes the game for retail traders. More screen time alone may not create an edge when the competition itself is becoming faster and more sophisticated every year.

You don’t need to beat an algorithm at speed. You need to understand the order flow, liquidity and market structure their activity leaves behind.

Don’t compete on speed. Learn to read the footprints.

Can You Trade Without Looking at a Chart? Price isn’t the only thing moving the market.

An options trader can watch Delta, Gamma and positioning to understand how exposure changes as NIFTY moves. Near expiry, rising Gamma can force market makers to hedge aggressively through Futures and options.

That forced Delta hedging itself can become part of the Order Flow driving price.

So while everyone else is watching the candle… sometimes the bigger story is in the numbers behind it.

Are 5 Indicators Really 5 Confirmations? 👀

RSI, Stochastic and MACD may look like three different confirmations, but they’re largely answering variations of the same question: momentum.

A better framework is to know what information you’re actually measuring:

Trend → Direction
Momentum → Speed
Volatility → Range
Volume → Participation/conviction

More indicators don't automatically mean more information. Sometimes you're simply looking at the same market behaviour through five different formulas.

And underneath all those calculations sits the actual auction — Price, Volume and Order Flow.

Stop counting confirmations. Start counting independent information.

You think the person on the other side of your trade is a genius betting against your direction. He isn't. He doesn't even care which way price goes.

He's a shopkeeper.

A fruit seller buys apples at ₹80 and sells at ₹84 — pocketing that ₹4 gap, thousands of times a day. That gap is the spread, and it's his fee for one thing: giving people what they want, instantly. That's making the market.

But flow is never balanced. When everyone dumps and nobody buys, his crates pile up — that's his inventory, and it's risky. So he makes two moves at once: he cuts his ask to clear the shelf, and drops his bid to stop buying more. One empties the crates, the other stops them refilling. That's inventory adjustment — not hunting you, just managing his shelf.

And you can see it on the chart: selling smashes a level, price refuses to drop, someone's quietly going long — then the crates clear and the drive begins.

Read the inventory, and the market stops looking random.

Is That Really Support… or Just a Price Level? 👀

A candlestick tells you where price moved. Market Profile adds another dimension — where the market actually spent its time and found acceptance.

Through TPOs, POC, Value Area, VAH, VAL and Initial Balance, you can start separating accepted prices from rejected ones and put those apparent breakouts and support/resistance levels into context.

Because a level on the chart is just a level.

The auction around it tells you whether it matters.

Save this for your next trading session and share it with someone still treating every line as support or resistance.
