🏦💰 Unlocking Forgotten Wealth..

💼 Public Sector Banks (PSBs), including prominent names like SBI and PNB, have transferred a staggering amount of Rs 35,012 crore of unclaimed bank deposits to the RBI.

These deposits have remained untouched for over a decade, and their rightful owners are yet to claim them.

📣 Here is the good news! The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has taken a commendable step towards enabling individuals to trace and reclaim their long-forgotten deposits.

In a recent development, the RBI announced the creation of a user-friendly web portal that allows users to search across multiple banks for possible unclaimed deposits.

Here are the 5 ways this exciting initiative benefits the public: 💪💸

1️⃣ Easy Access: The web portal provides a user-friendly platform for individuals to search across multiple banks, offering easy access to information about their unclaimed deposits. It eliminates the hassle of visiting different banks or conducting lengthy paperwork, making the process hassle-free and convenient.

2️⃣ Financial Empowerment: By reclaiming their long-forgotten deposits, individuals regain control over their finances, leading to greater financial empowerment. The initiative helps people tap into their dormant wealth, enabling them to make better financial decisions and improve their financial well-being.

3️⃣ Transparency and Awareness: Banks are now required to display lists of unclaimed deposits on their websites, including the account holders' names and addresses. This promotes transparency and awareness, ensuring that individuals are informed about the existence of their dormant accounts. It eliminates the possibility of funds remaining unclaimed due to a lack of knowledge.

4️⃣ Preventing Financial Loss: Unclaimed deposits can be vulnerable to fraud or loss over time. By facilitating the recovery of unclaimed funds, the initiative helps individuals safeguard their financial assets. It reduces the risk of funds being misused or lost due to the account holder's absence or unawareness.

5️⃣ Promoting Financial Inclusion: The initiative aligns with the goal of financial inclusion by ensuring that no individual's wealth remains dormant or forgotten. It bridges the gap between individuals and their unclaimed assets, promoting a more inclusive financial ecosystem where everyone has access to their rightful funds.

By embracing this initiative, individuals can unlock their unclaimed deposits, gain financial control, and contribute to a more transparent and inclusive financial landscape. 💰💼

We always wondered why many times people do not get proper resolution of their banking complaints.

One of the main reasons we have found out is that people do not know the proper method to complain and whom to approach categorically if the bank is not giving a proper answer.

You always heard people saying “Me RBI me complaint kar dunga” but unfortunately they don’t know the exact process to approach RBI.

So in this post, let’s understand the 5 Levels to complaint against banks as per the Banking Ombudsman Scheme of RBI.

1️⃣ Level 1: Bank
It is important to approach the bank first and complain there. (Pro Tip: It is really important to collect the acknowledgment number of the complaint because it will be needed if we want to escalate the matter to a higher level)

2️⃣ Level 2: Principal Nodal Officer
If Bank is not giving a proper resolution of the complaint then the second level to approach is the Principal Nodal Officer. He has been assigned by each and every bank as per RBI’s guidelines to resolve customer complaints.

3️⃣ Level 3: Banking Ombudsman
If Principal Nodal Officer is not giving a proper complaint resolution, the third level to approach is Banking Ombudsman. The Banking Ombudsman is not a bank’s employee but he/she is an independent authority working under the purview of the Banking Ombudsman Scheme.

4️⃣ Level 4: Appellate Authority
If the complaint is still not resolved satisfactorily at Level 3, the next level to approach is Appellate Authority. Appellate Authority is working under RBI’s Deputy General Manager.

5️⃣ Level 5: Consumer Education and Protection (CEP) Cell
If RBI’s Appellate Authority is also not giving proper resolution, one can complain even against RBI at Consumer Education and Protection (CEP) Cell.

Let's be aware of this and spread awareness around us so that maximum people can have their banking complaints resolved in time. Let’s make a difference..!!
