Airwallex is investing $43 million in the United Arab Emirates over the next five years to expand its regional financial infrastructure.

The investment is aimed at helping enterprises handle more currencies, reduce operational friction, and trade internationally from day one. Airwallex is also enlarging its Dubai office and adding senior leadership hires from international and regional talent pools.

The company has secured In-Principle Approval from the Central Bank of the UAE for Stored Value Facilities and Retail Payment Services, Category II licences. It continues working toward full operational approval to launch its full suite of services later in 2026.

The UAE launch will also support autonomous products including T:0, Airi, and Kai, designed to run financial functions with limited human intervention.

Nuvion has announced a partnership with Turnkey to make it easier for businesses and fintechs to deploy stablecoin-powered financial products without managing wallet architecture or private-key security in-house.

The integrated offering brings Turnkey’s wallet infrastructure into Nuvion’s platform, which already includes multi-currency accounts, card issuing, global payouts, and compliance automation across fiat and stablecoin rails.

The combined capability is designed to support embedded wallet creation, stablecoin on- and off-ramps, programmatic treasury workflows, and global payout routing over digital-asset rails.

Keisha Clark, managing director of Nuvion, said the goal is to abstract infrastructure complexity for enterprise customers. Bryce Ferguson, CEO and co-founder of Turnkey, said the fit supports wallet infrastructure without security trade-offs.

No commercial terms were disclosed. How do you see embedded wallet infrastructure shaping enterprise financial products?

The Crypto and Digital Assets All-Party Parliamentary Group has launched a formal Parliamentary Inquiry into banking access for UK-based crypto and digital asset businesses.

The six-week call for written evidence runs until 31 August 2026, with findings and recommendations to Government to follow.

The inquiry is examining two key issues:

Account access, as firms report difficulty opening or keeping business bank accounts and accessing payment and merchant services.
Transaction restrictions, including payment blocks and transfer limits tied to crypto activity.

The timing follows the UKs new crypto regulatory framework and raises a central question, can banking frictions slow the Governments goal of making the UK a global digital-asset hub?

The inquiry will also review approaches in the United States, Hong Kong, Australia and the European Union.

How should banking access for crypto and digital asset businesses be addressed in the UK?

Key details include:
- The partnership was announced on 21 July 2026.
- The collaboration was notified to the State Bank of Vietnam under applicable regulations.
- All inbound and outbound remittance flows remain subject to Vietnam's foreign exchange controls and anti-money laundering requirements.

The move comes as Vietnam's non-cash payments continue to grow rapidly, with 17.7 billion non-cash transactions recorded in 2024 and close to 18 billion reached in the first nine months of 2025.

Glide was founded in 2023 by Tushar Soni and Qinyu Tong, the engineers who led the build of Robinhood's crypto wallet. Its deposit product lets applications accept crypto deposits from any token, wallet, exchange, or card without requiring users to manually convert funds before transacting.

The technology supports deposits across more than 100 tokens and 30 blockchain networks, including funding from centralized exchanges and fiat onramps. MoonPay said Glide's deposit technology will integrate into MoonPay Deposits, which already serves clients including Wallet in Telegram, Moonshot, and Paysafe.

MoneyGram, Figure Markets, and Range have been announced as new Tier 1 validators on the Stellar blockchain network, expanding the network’s decentralization and fault tolerance for regulated finance use cases.

Tier 1 status on Stellar comes with specific responsibilities. Each validator must operate three geographically dispersed full validators, maintain 99.9% uptime or above, publish complete history archives, and complete SEP-1 and SEP-20 self-verification standards.

The three organizations bring different strengths. MoneyGram has operated on Stellar since 2021. Figure Markets already issues $YLDS, an SEC-registered yield-bearing stablecoin on Stellar. Range provides real-time monitoring and pre-execution compliance controls across more than 200 blockchain networks.

The Stellar Development Foundation said the new validators are expected to be fully integrated into the quorum configuration by mid-August 2026.

17/08/2026

Nasdaq has partnered with the National Bank of Georgia to deploy its Calypso treasury and capital markets platform across five of the country’s largest commercial banks: Bank of Georgia, TBC Bank, Liberty Bank, Terabank, and Basisbank.

The shared deployment will use a single Calypso instance hosted at a centralized location, with each bank kept as a separate entity and its data fully segregated. The platform will cover the full front-to-back trade lifecycle, including trade capture, risk management, compliance, settlement, accounting, and financial reporting.

The National Bank of Georgia says the standardized reporting layer will improve visibility into treasury exposures, liquidity positions, and systemic risk across the sector. The program is coordinated through the Georgian Market Advancement Program and the Georgian Financial Markets Treasuries' Association, with project management funding provided by Japan through the Japan-EBRD Cooperation Fund.
