The promulgation of Employees' State Insurance Act, 1948(ESI Act), by the Parliament was the first major legislation on social Security for workers in independent India. Employees’ State Insurance Scheme of India, is a multidimensional social security system tailored to provide socio-economic protection to worker population and their dependants covered under the scheme. Besides full medical care for self and dependants, that is admissible from day one of insurable employment, the insured persons are also entitled to a variety of cash benefits in times of physical distress due to sickness, temporary or permanent disablement etc. resulting in loss of earning capacity, the confinement in respect of insured women, dependants of insured persons who die in industrial accidents or because of employment injury or occupational hazard are entitled to a monthly pension called the dependants benefit. A lighted lamp which is the logo of ESIC truly symbolises the spirit of the Scheme, lighting up lives of innumerable families of workers by replacing despair with hope and providing help in times of distress, both physical and financial.

ईएसआईसी चिकित्सा महाविद्यालय एवं अस्पताल, चेन्नई के औषधि विज्ञान विभाग द्वारा छठे फार्माकोविजिलेंस सप्ताह का आयोजन किया गया। इस वर्ष की थीम “फार्माकोविजिलेंस के माध्यम से औषधियों के तर्कसंगत उपयोग को बढ़ावा देना,सुरक्षित स्वास्थ्य सेवाओं की दिशा में एक कदम” रही। इस अवसर पर स्नातक विद्यार्थियों के लिए रंगोली, पोस्टर, मीम एवं लघु फिल्म प्रतियोगिता, जागरूकता रैली और फेस पेंटिंग सहित विभिन्न गतिविधियाँ आयोजित की गईं। साथ ही, स्व-औषधि सेवन के जोखिमों एवं औषधि सुरक्षा के प्रति बीमित व्यक्तियों को जागरूक करने हेतु नुक्कड़ नाटक भी प्रस्तुत किया गया।

समापन समारोह में डीन द्वारा उपचार में कृत्रिम बुद्धिमत्ता (AI) के उपयोग से जुड़ी सावधानियों पर प्रकाश डाला गया। औषधि प्रतिकूल प्रभाव (ADR) की समयबद्ध रिपोर्टिंग के लिए विभिन्न नैदानिक विभागों को प्रशंसा पुरस्कार प्रदान कर सम्मानित किया गया।

स्वच्छता ही सेवा अभियान 2026 के अंतर्गत ईएसआईसी स्वच्छ एवं स्वस्थ भारत के निर्माण के लिए दृढ़ संकल्पित है।

इस क्रम में, ईएसआईसी चिकित्सा महाविद्यालय एवं अस्पताल, लुधियाना (पंजाब) के डीन प्रो. डॉ. दिनेश राव के मार्गदर्शन में चिकित्सकों द्वारा फील्ड गंज, लुधियाना में सामुदायिक जागरूकता गतिविधि आयोजित की गई। वहीं, ईएसआईसी उप क्षेत्रीय कार्यालय, कोषिक्कोड (केरल) द्वारा अपशिष्ट प्रबंधन, स्रोत पर कचरे के पृथक्करण, आसपास के क्षेत्रों की स्वच्छता तथा घरेलू कचरे के जिम्मेदार निपटान के महत्व के संबंध में आमजन को जागरूक किया गया।

ईएसआईसी उप क्षेत्रीय कार्यालय, ओखला (दिल्ली) द्वारा कार्यालय के आसपास के क्षेत्रों में स्वच्छता अभियान चलाने के साथ-साथ ओखला क्षेत्र में घर-घर जाकर जागरूकता अभियान आयोजित किया गया। इसके अतिरिक्त, ईएसआईसी अस्पताल, काकीनाडा (आंध्र प्रदेश) द्वारा गीले एवं सूखे कचरे के उचित पृथक्करण के संबंध में जागरूकता अभियान चलाकर नागरिकों को स्वच्छता के प्रति जागरूक एवं जिम्मेदार बनने के लिए प्रेरित किया गया।

डॉ. चंद्र भूषण कुमार, सचिव, श्रम एवं रोजगार मंत्रालय द्वारा श्रम शक्ति भवन, नई दिल्ली में अधिकारियों एवं कर्मचारियों के लिए आयोजित स्वास्थ्य जांच एवं रक्तदान शिविर का उद्घाटन किया गया। इस जन-कल्याणकारी शिविर का आयोजन ईएसआईसी क्षेत्रीय कार्यालय, दिल्ली तथा ईएसआईसी चिकित्सा महाविद्यालय एवं अस्पताल, बसईदारापुर के संयुक्त तत्वावधान में किया गया।

इस अवसर पर श्री अजय शर्मा, अपर सचिव, श्रम एवं रोजगार मंत्रालय की गरिमामयी उपस्थिति रही। साथ ही, श्री राकेश कुमार, क्षेत्रीय निदेशक, ईएसआईसी क्षेत्रीय कार्यालय, दिल्ली; तथा ईएसआईसी चिकित्सा महाविद्यालय एवं अस्पताल, बसईदारापुर के डीन ब्रिगेडियर सुशील कुमार कौशिक (सेवानिवृत्त) एवं चिकित्सा अधीक्षक डॉ. संगीता माथुर भी इस अवसर पर उपस्थित रहे।

शिविर का मुख्य उद्देश्य स्वास्थ्य के प्रति जागरूकता बढ़ाना तथा रक्तदान हेतु जनभागीदारी एवं सेवा भावना को प्रोत्साहित करना था। मंत्रालय के अधिकारियों एवं कर्मचारियों ने इसमें पूरे उत्साह के साथ भाग लेकर अपनी सक्रिय सहभागिता दर्ज की।
