GST 2.0: Reduced Rates from the 56th GST Council Meeting
Below is an item-wise breakdown of key reductions, based on the announcements.
Items Now at 0% GST (Previously Taxed)
- Ultra-High Temperature (UHT) milk, chena or paneer, pizza bread, khakhra, chapathi or roti
- 33 life-saving drugs and medicines, including cancer treatments and medications for rare diseases
- Individual life insurance and health policies
- Maps, charts, globes, pencils, sharpeners, crayons, pastels, exercise books, notebooks, erasers
Items Reduced to 5% GST (From 12% or 18%)
- Hair oil, shampoo, toothpaste, toilet soap, toothbrush, shaving cream
- Butter, ghee, cheese, dairy spreads, namkeens, packaged snacks like bhujia and mixtures
- Packaged foods such as pasta, cornflakes, biscuits, chocolates, cocoa products, sausages, meat preparations, fish products, malt extract-based foods
- Dry fruits and nuts including almonds, pistachios, hazelnuts, cashews, dates
- Sugar, confectionery items like toffees and candy, sugar syrups
- Vegetable oils, animal fats, edible spreads
- Household items: utensils, tableware, kitchenware, bicycles, umbrellas, hair pins
- Baby products: feeding bottles, napkins for babies, clinical diapers
- Health and medical: thermometer, medical-grade oxygen, diagnostic kits, glucometer and test strips, corrective spectacles
- Agriculture and machinery: tractor tyres and parts, tractors, specified bio-pesticides, micro-nutrients, drip irrigation systems, sprinklers, agricultural/horticultural/forestry machines for soil preparation
- Other essentials: packaged drinking water, nuts, certain footwear and apparel up to βΉ2,500

- Buses, trucks, ambulance
- All auto parts (uniform rate
New 40% GST Slab (For Sin and Luxury Goods)
- Aerated water, carbonated beverages, caffeinated drinks, non-alcoholic beverages
- Motorcycles with engine capacity above 350cc
- Helicopters, yachts
- High-end cars (specific luxury models)
