🌧️ Where Is Mumbai's Monsoon?

Mumbai could be heading for its most delayed monsoon onset in nearly two decades.

📅 Key points:
• Monsoon is already 8 days late — normal arrival date is June 11
• IMD now expects a stronger monsoon surge only after June 25
• If that happens, it could be Mumbai's latest monsoon arrival since 2009
• Weak monsoon winds and lack of rain-bearing weather systems are slowing its progress
• An inactive Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO), a key monsoon driver, is also being blamed
• Mumbai has received very little rain so far this month:
▪️ Colaba: 4.3 mm
▪️ Santacruz: 13 mm
• Average June rainfall for Mumbai is around 526 mm
• Residents continue to face hot, humid, and uncomfortable weather conditions

🌡️ From record-early monsoon in 2025 to a potentially record-late arrival in 2026 — Mumbai's weather is keeping everyone guessing.

💬 Are you still waiting for the rains, or enjoying the extra sunshine?
