2 Lakhs!! That was the reality!!!
Harshad wasn’t ready for it.
There is a very thin line between dreaming big and lying to yourself.
Harshad. 35. Came in excited.
Goal: ₹1 Crore in 5 years.
SIP: ₹5,000 a month.
I opened the calculator.
Result: ₹2 Lakhs per month SIP requirement
The room went quiet.
Here is the psychology nobody talks about👇
Big dreams feel good.
They motivate you.
They give you a reason to start.
But an unrealistic goal does something dangerous quietly. It sets you up to feel like a failure.
Not because you did anything wrong.
But because the gap between what you expected and what actually happened feels like proof that you cannot do it.
So you quit.
And that is the real problem.
Not the SIP. Not the market. Not the fund.
The story you told yourself about what was possible.
Dreaming big is not the enemy.
Dreaming without a plan is.
The most successful investors I have worked with dream big and think realistically at the same time.
They ask: What can I actually do today, consistently, that moves me towards that dream?
That question changes everything.
Because a ₹5,000 SIP is not a failure.
It is a starting point.
Own it...
Build on it...
Increase it over time...
But do not attach a ₹1 Crore expectation to it in 5 years and then blame investing when the math does not deliver.
Dream big. Please 🙏🙏
But also open a calculator.
Both things can be true at the same time.
Save this and send it to someone whose expectations need a gentle reality check.
