Are we really Independent?
India got independence on 15th August 1947 and today we are celebrating it's 75th independence day. I salute all the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives to protect and gain freedom for us. I salute our triumphant soldiers, who put everything on the line to protect our nation and because of whom we can sleep at our homes cosily, safe and sound.
We often talk about freedom and celebrate independence day magnificently, but have you ever asked yourself, are we really independent? If you ask me I would say, NO! We are still caged in narrow domestic walls of caste, colour, religion and gender. We are still unsuccessful in freeing ourselves from the shackles of corruption, terrorism, crime and violence against women.
Our country is definitely free but not independent. We will truly be independent
•When a girl child can walk on the streets without fear.
•When people will understand the real meaning of gender equality.
•When a religion won't become the reason for crime.
•When love will overcome terrorism.
•When no farmer will commit su***de.
•When no family will have to sleep hungry.
•When there will be no child labour and every child will have the right to education.
•When students will be able to follow their passion.
•When every person would have financial independence.
It is important to celebrate our independence but it's more important that we ensure that we aren't living in-dependence.The word independence means "not dependent" on anyone or anything. It means being strong and capable enough to survive alone, to be self sufficient. Independence means equality.
Every year we proudly sing "Sare jahan se accha Hindustan hamara". If we truly want to achieve this even the smallest effort from each one of us will count. So keep doing a little good everyday because stars don't need admiration to shine.
•Refuse to accept corruption, injustice and disrespect.
•Be kind, emphatic, honest and respectful.
•Fight for your rights and justice.
Let's unite and one day we will have a country independent from all it's problems. Let's get together and help our nation to grow and prosper.
Happy Independence day.
Jai Hind!
