I came out only last year as a transfeminine person. I had already been working in the industry for 10 years, with a specialisation in doing fashion and event shoots, content and marketing.
I am the founding partner of The Fatsmeagol Collective , a 7-year-old democratically run collective of content creators and social media marketers.
Since I have come out and am public and visible through my social media channels. We have noticed some differences take place.
1 - We no longer are getting as many enquiries for the same work we were doing last year. That is in the fashion and event space.
2 - We had a few wedding clients straight up cancel our contracts. Where we would be shooting weddings for them
3 - My own acquaintances and friends, who would have recommended me for any photography/ job, no longer recommend me, but would rather give the work to other cisgender friends they have. This one hurt the most.
4 - And this one has the been the most surprising;
Since I have come out, we find it difficult to hire new folks. Our company social media profile has always been a fun honest reflection of the team. As such it has also covered my transition. Since this has happened I notice a lot fewer applicants for our positions. In addition to this, I have noticed a lot of shortlisted candidates walking away as well.

Workplace discrimination is real...
This pride month we want to amplify real voices from the LGBTQ community in India - something we do throughout the year but especially focus on this month. The idea is to make the broader audience aware of just how real workplace discrimination is, and why we need more vocal and consistent allies from people beyond the community too.
If you have faced such discrimination at the workplace, share your voice with us by filling out this form https://forms.gle/k2UKkSHXGH51NRex9
